Desirable Discourses Joint Legacy Rules
This legacy could be considered a ‘Round Robin’ legacy, in which each generation is played by a different member of the community.
GUIDELINES
Uploading-
Considering the fact that every generation is played and documented by a different member, many wonder how the family will travel from computer to computer.
Being that this is a Sims 3 legacy, in order to keep all the traits and skill points of the heir intact, the heir will be uploaded to a lot for download by the next player.
This also means, that when you do upload your heir, please DO NOT upload him/her with any CC, from the store, or from Third Party sites. (more on this below)
Gameplay-
ALL EXISTING LEGACY RULES APPLY.
Rules found here: forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/39862.page
EXCEPTION: You may age a sim from baby to toddler as early as you like. Playing babies SUCKS in TS3!
Heirship-
A poll must be posted here desirablediscourses.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=storypolls for the heir.
ALL eligible son/daughters of the founder/heir you downloaded must be in a poll. The poll should be posted once the third child has become a teen, so that the voters will have a chance to see each potential heir's personality in the story.
We like to see genes in the game, so please, no adopted heirs. You may adopt children, but they are not eligible for heirship. Each heir or female spouse of, must give birth a minumum of three times. Twins/triplets only count as ONE birth, but all of the children must be in the heir poll.
Traits-
One family trait is to be passed down to each offspring. It has been decided upon that the family trait will be Charismatic. ALL other traits MUST be randomized by rolling the dice at each age transition.
There is an allowance for ONE optional trait, which may be used at the players descretion whenever, or if, they choose to use it. This means that one trait may be exchanged for another if so desired.
If the optional trait has not been utilized until reaching adulthood, you may wait until the heir is chosen and purchase the LTW award to change ONE of the heir's traits to one you find more suitable to play. (I'm allowing this to be used only for the chosen heir because I don't think ONE trait could or should be a determining factor in which sim wins the heir poll.)
Cheats-
No cheats are allowed. No motherlode, kaching, or testing cheats.
If you have a glitch, then of course, cheats are allowed to fix it.
Names-
The surname must be Discourses and the first names must begin with the letter 'D'. The following are links to lists that may help with that:
Girl names starting with 'D'
Boy names starting with 'D'
Story-
The plot, or lack there of, is decided upon the player with the current heir. You can post as many updates as you wish, as long as the courtship/marriage is documented, and each potential heir is represented, so the voters will get a feel for the sims they will be voting on.
You can choose to follow a story plot, or simply document the in-game happenings. To keep things cohesive for the next player, the last update should involve showing the new heir leaving their hometown for a new land and new adventures, cutting all ties with their former life. This will allow for a clean slate for the next player.
Time Limits-
The current player has exactly four weeks to post an update. If time goes by, and you do not post the update, or contact Myself, then we will assume that you no longer want to document the generation, and the next person in line will be assigned your generation.
Spouses-
Spouses should not be recycled. If a player is using a neighborhood that has been used previously, they can involve a spouse that has already been used in the story so long as it does not interfere with the canon (i.e. an alternate universe situation) but a Sim that has already been bred into the bloodline should not be bred in again.
You may use anybody unique to the neighborhood you play in. Pre-made Playables, NPC’s, or even vacation NPC’s (if you play in a vacation location) are fine. (no CAS or downloaded sims.)
Spare Stories-
Players who are still waiting for their turns and previous players who still want to be involved may volunteer to do a Spare Story for Sims not chosen to be the heir. People not on the list of players may also volunteer, but players on the list have first call. If a month has passed and no one on the list has claimed a particular spare, they may be claimed by anyone.
Uploading-
Please link all stories to the Main DD Round Robin thread. Stories may be posted in any form you wish. All chapters are to be posted at the LJ DD community:
community.livejournal.com/ddljbranch/
Please package an empty lot with the heir on it to box.net or whatever uploader you use, instead of saving the sim, and then uploading straight from your game. This is to include the sim's traits. It is also acceptable to move the sim out into the sim bin and package him/her up as a 'family' without a lot, since doing so is possible in TS3 and the sim will retain all his/her traits, etc.
WA-
If the person next in line does not have WA, please do not use ANY WA traits that would upload with the sim.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, I’ll try my best to answer them. J
THANKS-
To the guidelines at the Boolpropian Round Robin Legacy for steering me in the right direction. J
