LOL... Thanks Holley! I never delete sims from the bin. It's a horrible thing to do to your game because although the sims are gone, all the files that went with them still remain in your game and can cause problems with other sims down the road. If I don't plan to play them, I just stick them on a lot and leave them there, or change them into townies with Inge's teleporter shrub. Well I have played around a bit with it without the downloads folder. It's going to be a bit before I put that back in because I have to take the time to go through it and make sure it's all straight. Plus I like to play with a clean game for a bit to check for bugs, glitches, etc.

Have fun. There are a pair of sisters there in that new hood that you can easily turn into a good and a bad witch to see how it all works.

I have pretty much deleted every Sim family in that bin since I reinstalled my game.

No no no! It leaves bits of memeries behind. Kind of like sim one knows sim two and doesn't realize they have gone because just like RL, sims have to die to be gone. If you delete it leaves these dangly files. It can slowly cause glitches that eventualy lead to a kaboom meltdown. Same thing goes for moving sims from one hood to another-don't, nor upload sims in houses! or install them in houses from the exchange. The fact that EA provided the tools to ruin our games makes me gnash teeth, but it shouldn't surprise us by this time!
The easist way to kill a sim is to use the death mask from simwardrobe. I killed of the first Lynda in that hood that way lol. This does kill them as grim comes to clean up an you get the head stone. Then to move sims or upload them to the exchange use simPE, clone, rename and upload. Keep a copy on your desk top in a folder and even if they get culled you will still have them.

Well Holley, it looks like Jo explained it pretty well and stuck it in a nutshell...lol Basically it leaves files called dangling SWAF's (Sim Wants and Fears), etc. These files are just sitting there waiting to get invited in to haunt you by attaching themselves where they don't belong like to toddlers, etc. If you've ever read stories of people telling about their toddlers getting adult wants and fears, etc that is why. Those folks have been deleting, moving sims etc and have a dangling SWAF problem. Basically the brilliant programmers at EA gave us all the tools we need to systematically destroy our hoods, but what do they care? It's only a game, right? We gave them our money and they gave us a game to play in return. What do they care if we do things to it that ruins all our hard work over several months or years? We can always start over, eh? Stupid EA! Hey, has anyone else had the problem of all your apartment mailboxes turning into residential ones? I put some of my cc back in, but no hacks. Something in there could be causing it. If so, I have to figure out what.

Yeah the mailbox thing is annoying. The patch fixed that I think. I don't have that happen anymore.
I moved a family from one hood to another once. It was my favorite family. They started rolling blank wants and fears and I had to delete them. I don't move families anymore. I didn't know the same thing could happen by deleting families from the bin.

I've moved a couple of families to different hoods, and have deleted many maxis families over the years. They never tell you any of this stuff! I haven't had anything bad happen to the moved families, nothing visible, anyway! But I certainly won't be doing that anymore! I still haven't played an apartment yet, so I don't know about the mail boxes. Other than that, it just seems to be my usual phone glitch, which I got after every install from BV on. Usually, the patch fixed it, but not this time.
The Cordial sisters in Bella Donna are already witches, and if you play them, you can convince them to turn another sim pretty quickly. (I moved the wannabe witch in with them, so they became friends more quickly.) How are you liking it so far? (It's nice to see you playing! LOL!)

Hey thanks y'all, but I figured out the stupid mailbox thing. I had put my clothes, hair, some objects, etc back into the game, but accidently left Sedd's buyable mailbox in the folder. Logic told me to take that one out when I saw it and ... it was the culprit! It has to be updated for every EP and it was the FT one. You never know what can happen to your game from doing the things we do. I can't imagine moving or deleting sims would affect the phone but... who knows for sure? You likely have a conflicting/outdated hack or custom content in your folder somewhere Jilly. You don't happen to have any custom phones/cell phones do you? Those can cause weird problems if they're outdated too. I put this on Crissy's game too and the first people she played was the wanna-be witches...lol. She got them both turned already, but I haven't gone into their house yet. I wanted to play around with apartments, especially ones with playground equipment on the lot to check it out. I have been playing a pre-made family of a single father with a daughter who is interested in the single mother with a toddler who lives below him. I've switched back and forth between the two a couple of times. I even tried out the ask a neighbor to babysit. The man watched the toddler while the woman was at work and he sucked worse than the nanny! The fool didn't even come down to her apartment until the kid had pissed herself and crawled outside! Then instead of going to bathe her, he went and got her a bottle! Finally after a while he gave her a bath, but then he kept harrassing her while she was trying to sleep. THAT is why I can't play without hacks! I sure miss my baby/toddler fixes when they're not installed...lol As for the answer to your question Jilly... I like it okay so far, but I'll like it better when all my files are back into place...lol Oh, I also tried out the call the landlord to report roaches feature. That was pretty cool because he also cleaned up/picked up the kicked over trash can.

I forgot about the babysitting thing. More things on my list of things I've never done!

You haven't missed anything, believe me! Of course I don't how domestic the guy is. Maybe someone who's studied parenting or something would be better at babysitting the neighbor's kids...lol

Yea, I've heard that too. I'm going have to go into one of those ritzy apartments next and get them a butler if they don't already have one and check him out too.

Well I have discovered at least ONE thing about AL that I absolutely hate . . . the fact that you can't buy and place anything on the lot anywhere except in your OWN apartment! How stupid! I wanted to buy and place a chess table in the community area of an apartment building and the stupid game won't let me. Looks like I should be able to buy something and drop it anywhere I darn well please. LOL

I hate that part also, I tried to put playground pieces on one part but...
With the wannabe witches, I made one get married and have a kid while the other had three with grimmy.

Do what you want and then zone it back to apartment.
