My poor mom is going into the hospital this morning to have surgery done on her horribly infected ear. The infection has gotten so severe that it has gotten into the bone and it is going to have to be removed. She is 72 years old and even though this is outpatient surgery, they may keep her overnight for observation to make sure everything is alright before sending her home.

I will gone for quite a while today. After leaving the hospital, if she gets to come home, I will be at her house for a while to watch over her and make sure she's okay. She has no internet at her house, so I won't be able to come on-line until I get back home.

Hopefully everything will work out fine and my mom will start to feel better soon. She has been having problems with her ear for several months and should have had a specialist look at it sooner because our general practitioner apparently sucks!

Thanks y'all! *HUGS* My mom is doing okay. I'm staying the night with her and I'm online through someone else's wireless network that just happens to let me on, typing on my annoying laptop keyboard. I'll give more details once I'm back on my destop and nice big keyboard because my typing sucks on this one...lol

Lol! I didn't expect to see you around for a few days! I can get on my neighbor's wireless, too. It's called security, people...hello? Well, I guess it's a good thing some folks don't have security! lol!
I hope eveyone's OK. How long will you be staying with mom?

She only lives two houses up from us so it's not too bad...lol. I'm staying tonight and seeing how it goes. She's feeling pretty feisty right now, but that may change tomorrow. If she's better, I may stay at home tomorrow night, but if not, I'll likely be here.

Well that's handy! I bet once all the "good" pain meds wear off, she won't feel as good. The stuff you get to take at home is never as good. Poor mom.

You're right about that, Jill. Neither of us slept very well or very long last night. She says her pain meds aren't working too well.

That really sucks. Maybe they can call her in something stronger? But I'm sure they'll say that since it should get better every day, that by today, what she has is fine. They throw pain meds at my dh like rice at a wedding, but I swear if I was having an amputation, they'd tell me to take tylenol.

Sorry Jilly, but tylenol! But I know what you mean. After a c section they will supply stacks of morphine, yet the pain I had from that tooth abscess with a dead nerve was so much worse and they gave me an injection of something which had hardly any effect at all. I even asked if I could have some morphine and her eyes... it was like I was a drag addict asking her for some crack or something.

Well, I did call the doc and he prescribed her something stronger, but then I found out that the antibiotics they called in are wrong! This is the second time that doctor's office has called in the wrong drug for her. This time, it was something that they determined she's allergic to at the hospital yesterday!
