 Have you taken her back to the hospital? Since her doc apparently is'nt worth beans, maybe you should? If it was me Tina, I would! There's nothing worse that ear Pain! I hope all goes well! LUG ~ Lynda

Thanks everyone! *hugs* No. We're not at the hospital. We are home and I finally got it all straight...lol. She has her new pain meds and the correct antibiotics. |

Did they just take the bone, or did she lose her whole ear? My uncle actually had cancer in his ear, and they had to remove the whole thing. He had a terrible time with that.

Thanks y'all! Thank goodness she still has her ear. She just lost the mastoid bone, but she'll be fine. She can have more surgery later to improve her hearing if she wants to. I'm still at her house on my laptop and an iffy connection, so I'm having a hard time typing all this stuff...lol |

I'm glad her ear is still intact & that they can do more to save her hearing. I bet she's going to have a pretty long recovery time - she's very lucky to have you so close!

Thanks Jill! Yeah, the doc says it will be at least six weeks before the ear is completely healed. I'm glad she's close enough for me to look out for her as well.

Her ear is still there. The doctor had to remove the destroyed mastoid bone. It's inside the ear. She developed a small hole in her eardrum and skin started growing through it. Yuk! That caused an infection to develop, which was left untreated for so long that it started eating into the mastoid bone. The doctor went in and cleaned it all out. Hopefully her hearing will be okay, but if not, she will be able to have more surgery to make her hearing better if she wants to.
