Ah man, I had to go the eye doctor yesterday. Today I'm going to the sinus doctor! Ack.... lol! I'm going to be taking a drug that is VERY dangerous if you have an infection, so I decided I'd better go see my sinus guy today just to check and make sure I have NO infection since my sinuses are always acting up anyway. Plus my ear has been bugging me a bit too. Funny thing is that my mom has something wrong with her ear too that's been bugging her for quite a while now. I made us both appointments and we are going together today at 4:00pm. Doesn't that sound like a fun outing?

Yea. You've probably seen it advertised on TV. It's called Humera. It's actually a drug used for rheumatoid arhritis, but they are going to try it on me to see if it helps shrink this psuedotumor because it is an anti-inflammatory drug. My doctor says as far as he knows, it's never been used for this, so if it works, it may make it into the medical journals. I'm basically going to be a guinea pig. I'll try anything if there's a chance it will work. And... here's another kick in the head.... After my being on Prednisone for more than than THREE YEARS, my doctor told me yesterday that it could cause stomach ulcers! Well, gee, thanks for the advanced notice Doc!

Yes. Yes it does. But I haven't had any stomach problems so far, so I'm not putting too much worry time into his declaration..lol. I never take it on an empty stomach and always take it food like the directions say. So maybe that helps protect your stomach lining from any ill effects. I just want to get off this crap so I can get my weight back to normal. There is MOST definitely a skinny person inside me just dying to be let out!

Eh... I've gone down on the steroid dose several times already and lost a few pounds, but my boobs also shrunk...lol. I'm not THAT lucky! But I have to keep raising the dose because the pain flares up again every time I get to a certain point.

That sounds like a fun afternoon you have planned there Tina. I really, really hope this drug works some magic for you. So this infection side of things...what happens then if you get a cold or sinus infection while your on it? Be careful.

Well I got a clean bill of health from the doctor, but my mom has a nasty ear infection AND a sinus infection. She has medicine for it now, though, so hopefully she will feel better soon. Be careful about sums it up Jo. This medicine I'm going to be on lowers your immune system, so if I get an infection, I have to stop taking it immediately and call the doctor. Hopefully I won't get any infections while taking it though and hopefully it will do some good.

Can you take a natural immune booster? I take Blackmores Immune Support.

I don't know. My doctors have said not one thing about it to me. They won't even give a clue if there's anything I can take to help keep more weight from piling onto me.

Oh yea... very much so! On top of everything else, they took away my self-pay discount just because I couldn't pull $266.00 out of my pocket as if by magic to pay in one chunk TODAY! Do they think people are made of money? I've been seeing THIS doctor since 2002 and they want to treat me like I just walked in off the street.... So now I have to pay $120.00 EXTRA .... JUST because I didn't pay the whole chunk TODAY! Oh I wanted to STRANGLE that little snooty receptionist!
