I don't think a 'tutorial' is needed to upload the 'family' without the sim because I did it totally by accident at the TS3 site. I forget exactly what I did, but I 'shared' the sim from the home lot in the game instead of sharing her from CAS. That's when I learned I couldn't use her as my avatar because she was in the 'family' section of the site instead of the 'sims' section. But, she was living alone at the time. If she hadn't been living alone, other family members may have uploaded with her. I still haven't reinstalled my games, so I can't even open it up to have a look right now. My girls are going to leave tomorrow to go to the beach and I'll be here all alone, so I may get bored enough to install my games during that time.

;D I don't think a tutorial is needed ether, but from what I understand(& I get things screwed up all the time!) if you put people or lots or households in the library,it is only a temporary thing, because if you log out of your game the next time you are in there the library is empty! a pop-up tells you when placing anything in the library that it is temporary!I did not know what it meant & lost the new family I had created(can't find them anywhere!) ~ Now, I need to know about the house,as stated in past posts! ~ I think a lot of polls will happen & can't be helped, because Pinstar1161 wrote the new rules for Sims3 legacy Challenge, even he said it will have to be revised as each EP or SP comes in, but as for the Round Robin rules there are only Sims 2 to reference too as we are breaking new ground in that area!

I loaded my avitar sim from my house - from the mirror inside the house. I'll check tonight and see what the steps are to save a household to the library. I believe that's done thru 'edit town', and clicking on the house the sim is in. Then you get an option to save the household with or without the house. I'm not sure if I remember that right. I save my sims in CAS thru the dresser or mirror.
Karima, I think you're confusing library with clipboard. When I put that house (the singles) you made in my game, I inserted the file into the file marked "library". They now show up in my scroll list of available households to place in any game. (this was a furnished house with sims inside)
The clipboard is where a family goes when you are moving them from a house back to the library, or one house to another, splitting a household, etc. The family shows up in a thumbnail pic on the left of your screen until they are placed again. If you close your game with a family still out there, they are deleted.
I still like the idea of a base/starter house that we can each expand and modify as needed. Anyone else?

Ah yeah... the clipboard! I lost a family once because of not understanding how that stupid thing works. Thank goodness for backups! lol I did some research to learn about the clipboard before trying that again.

OK, I have an idea for a legacy house: Remember the Super Duper Shack I posted for the homeless challenge? I think with a few modifications, that house would be a perfect legacy house for us to use! Since I have NO GAMES installed yet, I'm thinking about installing the base game, downloading the Super Duper Shack that I have posted up on my sim page, and then modifying that a bit while I have no expansions or CC, etc to interfere with making it be user friendly for all versions of the game. If no one objects to this idea, I will do so, give it a new name, and then upload it for players to use. If I do this, hopefully it will help get my sluggish arse going again on playing and writing. Lord knows I need some sort of kick in the arse to get going again! Also, if we do it this way, it will be loads easier than building a whole new house from scratch. What do you all think?

Will it be optional, or will we have to use it? I kind of like the idea of them starting small and expanding as they marry & have kids. It just seems more...legacy-ish, but I'll agree to what everyone wants.

Well, legacies start out small, but when they are done the normal way, the heirs keep the house as the generations move on, so it gets bigger and bigger as it goes along. As far as the house goes, the player can make any changes they want after the heir moves into it. You people are making moutains out of mole hills here, you know? The whole pupose of making a house for the heir to move into is to make it an easier transition for each player as the reins are handed over to the next person, so that each player isn't forced to build a house from scratch because not everyone enjoys building a new home from the ground up. The proposal I made above is the SAME as the proposal for Karima, or someone else, to build a house for each player to download to move the heir into. I just suggested using one that's already built, but just needs a bit of remodeling. It doesn't matter to me if it's 'mandatory' or not. If you want to move your heir into an empty lot and make him start all over again from nothing, I'd say that's up to you.

I don't care - I'll go with the crowd. I just like the idea of a small house that gets expanded cuz I get a huge kick out of seeing what everyone can do with the same house. I loves me the SD Shack & have several copies of it placed in many hoods because it fits many & flows well. I was just thinking that there wouldn't be much to change if it was already big enough, that's all. It's not like the challenge itself won't give me enough to do without worrying about the house, too. I just thought it would be a kick. I'm sure everyone can be just as creative with the SD shack, but they won't need to be if they don't want to, so that's fine with me. Would you start it with the next player after Jo?

Well, the next player in line after Jo needs a place to put the heir...lol We could have a choice of two lots for download, the SD Shack and a smaller house made by Karima. It's all cool by me! *sigh* I STILL haven't reinstalled the game yet, though. I have been so busy today that I haven't had time. I spent half the day at the DMV with Stephanie. Man those folks are SLOW! Tomorrow I have to spend half the day with my mom taking her to the doctor about 35 miles away. If Wednesday is free, I will install the game and begin working on it because I'm DYING to get AMB installed to give it a whirl!

Cool! (not the long lines & boring places - the AMB!) Get that AMB going, girl! Also, in reading back my post, that mandatory comment sounded snarky - I meant if it's mandatory, it needs to be added to the rules. That's what I get trying to post with a headache - I shouldn't have even been online, but I just miss you guys so much!
