Well, the rules state that the heir is supposed to move into an empty lot, cutting all ties with the other family members to make him ready for the next player. We decided upon doing that in order to make it easier for someone coming after someone else who has more expansions, different cc, etc. After all, it isn't the same as with TS2 because the cc doesn't come with the sims and lots. So, I think taking note of what the family is worth and giving that to the heir to start is a good idea actually. That 'editons' thing simply won't work in TS3, Jill... unfortunately. ETA.... we could actually try making a copy of the home lot, place it in the hood, and then move the heir onto it. It may not come with everything the previous heir had, but it may be a good way of doing it... if it can work.

Borking is a factor - maybe the empty lot is best, with a familyfunds cheat before they leave to give them their money to take with them?

Yeah, I think either an empty lot, or just uploading the sim as a family without a lot is the best way to do it. Whatever the total value of the family is at the time of the changeover could be given to the new heir so a new house can be built on the new lot. Doing it that way works for me.

Yes maybe the empty lot is best. In the BP RR they used a different hood for each person to show the family had to move. (was on the run)

I'm horrible with building so it will take me ages to build a house from scratch. A copy of the house will work perfectly for me

;D I read a EX story on getting CC to show up,the way he describes does work, uploading a house will come with CC but sometimes some patterns will not port with the lot, then you will have to do what I did for Jilly, I had to upload objects, with the pattern on them to the EX,even though they were not mine originally,I had to do this so Jilly could have the lot I sent her, as I made it! If you click on the S3 link at the bottom of this, you will see what I mean, the story is also in my favorites!

I've downloaded some new lots for my upcoming S3 story, and with them was a download list of cc that I had to get as well if I wanted the house to appear as it was shown. Karima, everything came over with your lot, but as you say, the patterns didn't all make the trip. For the most part, patterns are a minor thing.
Tina, are you suggesting just a base house that we can all download? Then when our turn ends, we move the heir into that base house to upload to the next player?

Well, Jill, the 'base house' thing will work as well. But, we'd still have to keep track of the family funds at the time of the 'move', so that each heir will start out with what he/she is supposed to have. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get each heir to the next player with their current 'status' in tact as much as possible. It would hardly seem fair to have to 'start from scratch' with every new heir, since that isn't the way legacies generally work.

Can't I just upload the heir on the family plot? Or if you want it to be a story where the heir moves around like in the BP RR then I could move everyone out, then sell up and move the heir into another house and upload him/her from there.

I think the concern is that some of the objects/cc won't come along with the house. With the early players who have less expansions, I think this won't be a problem. Later, when the heir comes along with more money, I think they should have plenty to replace anything they need to.
If we use a base house, the sim will get the money from the sale of the house they were living in + all their things, and the base house will take the same amount of money to buy each time, so I think that might work out. Once they reach the next player, they can sell the base house & move to a new lot, then the new heir can return to the base house for travel.
To keep travel suveneirs, etc, the family inventory is SUPPOSED to store them correctly now, if the patches work correctly. I think you'd have to move other family members from the house first, leaving the heir. Once the heir is the only member of the house, the family inventory should bring anything you want to with the heir when he's moved to the base house, I would think.

;D So, what we need is a plain base house, with base game furniture that everyone can download,& use to transport their heir Sim!
~ Did you need me to look on MTS,or I could build one, on my other PC with only the base game in! or some one else, could do it! (Just a thought!)

Karima, that is an awesome idea! Also, you are a great builder, so if you'd like to build a home like that, that would be awesomely perfect! ;D
