Goodness, just as well I asked I would have just put it on right over the top, I have to uninstall first?!
I have no idea...
I think I'll wait till dh is home and he can read and do this. Thanks Harley.

Harley, Jo's worn out husband here lol, worn out trying to fix game issues for Jo instead of other things. Thanks for all your help in the past, she really does like the sims. You will see what type of processor she has on the screen shot. Do I still have to uninstall the old driver first? Edit: Jo here (I fixed your typo up dear... ) I was just over on the Bp boards and someone said their trouble was cause by a setting on the sound card. A tech on the sims 3 board fixed her up. Do you know anything about this?

Hey...I doubt that you have a sound card...Most computers off the shelf have onboard sound...
Thats an AMD CPU ....So , yes you should uninstall the graphics driver, reboot, then install the new driver..Becouse its an AMD motherboard and chip, you may just see when you click on Remove the driver, nothing but Display Adapter listed there..If it was an intel motherboard and chip you would see many more choices..
So..yes.. Go to Programs and features in Control Panel
Select Nvidia Video drivers Uninstall
Then reboot the computer, that will set the uninstall
Then reinstall the new Vid driver
Then back to programs and features and uninstall PHYSX driver once more
If you do happen to have a sound card, its probably a Creative one..Their drivers suck, rolling that driver back to an earlier version ususlly fixes any issues it may cause.

Thanks Harley.
It wasn't off the shelf, it was put together at some place that Steve thought had good prices and someone else recommended. So I think it may have a variety of different brands in it.

Well I'm back again-just. Ok that wasn't any fun. We uninstaled the driver and it also uninstaled the ethernet with it. We think that was Steve's fault. Dh says there were a couple of options when he went to uninstall the old driver. He chose something like All drivers including display and he also uninstalled the Nvidia Network access manager. (We think that was were he went wrong) We phoned a techy guy we know in town who told us to do a system restore. So we got everything back and I am back online. But I am back to the old driver. Our tech friend got Steve to change a setting so when it crashes it should go to a blue screen with a code. When that happens I will post the code. That was a panic, if we hadn't been able to phone him we would have been up the creek with no internet. Edit: Well it didn't work, it still turned the computer right off so I didn't get any code. It was in shoes again. It whirs a lot after freezing like it's working really hard and it came back for a few seconds before whirring and freezing again then turning off. We'll have another go with the driver tomorrow.
