I left the download alone when I uninstalled, so I guess that's ok..lol You'll have to explain this pop up a little better as in when it happened and what you were doing when it happened. Before you reinstall, you should defrag and then restart your computer. It helps to clear things out of your computer's memory for a cleaner install. EDIT.. I just realized that you'd already reinstalled. The popup must have ocurred during that? That's a good example of why you should defrag and then reboot before reinstalling something.

You already had me defrag only last month! Sheesh my computers are lucky to get it once every 6 months. Yes it popped up while installing and I clicked on 'try again' It hasn't said anything since. Oh no it's popped again! Now what do I do? Edit:theres a screen shot. Edit: Well I canceled and am doing the defrag. I hope you are not disappearing for long.

Last month!! Damn Woman, you need to defrag WAY more than that! Sheesh.... EVERY TIME you open that game and play, files get fragmented and moved all over the place. You should be defragging at least once a week or so. Also, things get goofy when you download things, surf the web, watch videos, whatever. The machine will run much better and last much longer if you do some basic maintenance to take care of it. I think you should follow the path that error shows and see if you can find that file or folder and then delete it. Once you uninstall, you should not have any folders of the game left on your computer. you need to delete everything that has Electronic Arts in it. If that file is even on your computer. Hopefully it's not corrupt on the disc.

Somehow, Jo, you didn't get a clean install. That's all it is. You DID make a backup of your stuff before uninstalling, I hope?
I really don't get that thing about it turning off your computer.

Nope, didn't bother to make a backup because I wasn't that bothered. I only thought about Riverview after I uninstalled. But I can always stick it back in. The install went fine after the defrag and the restart Tina. I just don't get it, last time I played about 3 months ago I had no trouble with CAS.
One minute CAS is working fine, then I click on something and the music stops, sometime the music restarts, but it sits there frozen then after about a minute the computer turns off. Then I have to hit the restart button. It can't be good for my computer.
If it was that crater world tool where do I find it? The icon is on my desktop but that wouldn't be the actual file would it. Or would the uninstal have taken away any files from that? maybe i should uninstall the download manager as well.

Holy Crap, Jo! I wonder if it's that stupid worl creator tool. SO glad I didn't give in to temptation and nab that myself!
I just came back from China again. This time I was able to buy the martial arts training equipment, plus a fortune cookie machine. I visited the abondoned barn and found a ton of local seeds. I also visited the orchard and harvested everything, plus fished for Koi in the pond there. When I went home, I planted a chinese garden and made a koi pond.
To do this, I didn't have time for an adventure. The suckie part is that you MUST adventure to earn more days of vacation. Doing the quest last time, I missed all of this. I'm planning to go back to France and do this, too. Last time I just bought some grapes and necter. This time I'll do the seed hunt and look for an orchard so I can also have a french garden.
Maybe by this weekend, I'll find my way to Egypt!

Taking off the EADM won't get rid of anything that world tool may have left behind. Do you disable your AVG when you play? I found a site with solutions for certain crashes and it says that AVG can greatly mess with games. www.gamingnewslink.com/2009/06/14/how-to-fix-sims-3-errors-crashes-disk-authentication-failure-black-screen-and-install-errors/Possibly some updates to your AVG in the last few months could mess with your game. Some sites say that a game turning your whole comuter off could be a heat issue as well. As far as finding that file goes, you could look for its name in Programs and Features-add/remove programs. Or type its name into a search box on your computer.

Well if it is, I don't know where to look to get it off.
I just uninstalled sims 3 and the download manger again. I'll try one more time to put it on.
Edit: sorry I missed your reply. No I've never turned AVG off to play. Well I will go reinstall the lot again and try with it off then.

AVG could be crashing your game. You're supposed to stop all things running in the background as much as possible. You should DEFINITELY turn AVG off when you install a program/game.

hOW DO i TURN IT OFF THOUGH? Sorry I have it on caps lock from all the EA codes I have been typing and retyping in. Just as well we don't just get three installs because this is the third today! There are 12 things ticked as on, do I have to click them all off? Or do i just click on firewall and disable that? Edit: I just noticed it has a line saying "Enable gaming mode" Should I try ticking that? It's unticked at the moment. Is turning off the firewall all I am suppose to do?

LOL... I don't know about the gaming mode. I have that on my antivirus program too, but have never used it. There should be an option to either turn off, or disable when you right click on it in the task bar on the bottom right of your screen. That's how I turn mine off while gaming/installing. I have had my antivirus close down my game before if I forgot to disable it before playing and it decided to do a scan or something...lol Here's a tip for you: Even if you type your game code in lower-case numbers/letters, it will change to uppercase once you've moved on to the next box. I didn't know that for a long time, but was happy when I found that out.

That's just it, it doesn't have that option. When I right click the only options are to open or to update. As far as I can tell the fire wall is the only green ticked option that has an option to be turned off and on. I didn't know about the lower case changing to upercase.

Yeah, that's pretty neat trick and a good thing to know...lol Well, I don't know anything about the AVG interface. There is probably an option to disable, turn off, or shutdown somewhere in there once you open it up. You may have to get your dh to help you find it, unless you feel like going in and clicking the different tabs to turn the pages and see what's there.

That's what I did, I opened it and clicked on all the green ticked items that I thought might be part of it and the Firewall is the only component with an option to be enabled or disabled. So I've got it disabled at the moment. Not that I like doing that. I'm downloading the update patches now. it's taking forever. I guess you need to go to bed. So if it doesn't work after this I'll be wanting to send EA a flaming bag of poop! Bother.
