First of all, it has been one royal pain in my rear end! I'm not sure if it was actually World Adventures or one of the patches because I haven't played this one family in a LONG time, but the first thing I noticed upon entering the lot was that Crissy had the wrong hairstyle. It's a lot where Mine and Crissy's simselves moved in with her rich finance. I was going to go in and take my simself on a world adventure, but it didn't turn out that way. When I noticed Crissy had the wrong hairstyle, I took her to change appearance. Guess what? The game crashed to the desktop when I tried to save. Jo, I believe that is similar to your recent problem. After several more tries, I decided to uninstall WA to see what would happen. Same thing... I ended up installing and then reinstalling the whole shooting match! Anyway, I went into a CLEAN hood with NO CC and created a new sim in CAS. She saved just fine. So I put her on a lot and took her to Egypt. She only had three days to complete a task and her task was to take a picture of a floor trap. So I got her camera and sent her to the pyramids to explore. Here I was thinking that a floor trap was a trap door, but that wasn't the case. My poor sim almost got attacked by a mummy and did end up getting burned up in a fire..lol. Later, I found out that is what is meant by a floor trap. So, I snapped a picture and completed her task just before it was time to go home. I think it totally blows that toddlers STILL can't go on vacation, you cannot just get a hotel room and have fun, and that you HAVE to complete this 'missions' in order to 'expand' your Visa so you can stay on vacation longer! But, so far, as little as I've played, it was fun and interesting. Too bad a damper was put on my fun by these dumb problems though. It turns out that ONLY Crissy cannot change appearance. My simself can, other sims in other houses/hoods can, and create-a-sim works just fine. I played with files, moved files around, switch some out for others and I STILL can't figure out what the problem is! Another real bummer is it seems some of my clothes got missing somehow. All I had were the store clothes, etc. My simself in my other hood lost two gorgeous outfits somehow and that pisses me off! I guess I will just have to reinstall them. What I hoped would be a nice morning playing WA turned into a nightmare of trying to figure out WTH was wrong with my game. The funny thing is that it doesn't really surprise me.

That really sucks! I haven't had any problems at all, and totally expected them! Well, I guess that's not entirely true...
One of the newest patches (before I got WA for Christmas) added the shopping bag icon to the in-game dashboard, and they encouraged you to click it while in-game to get a free coffee maker. Well, this brought up the launcher, which pissed off my pooter to have that open at the same time the game was up. After I cleaned up that mess, my play went just fine.
The forums mention you should go to China first, to bone up on Martial Arts skills. It was dumb luck that I just so happened to do that, as I didn't find this out until later. Martial Arts is the only thing that can defeat the mummy. Also, take a pair of sims to the academy to learn the skill, as when you get home, the only way to increase skills is to spar. (I also found out later that you can by practice equipment to take home. The store didn't have any when I checked, but apparently they change items daily, so you have to check back.)
Lastly, I cheated my sims moods (testingCheatEnabled true, shift+click mailbox, make all happy, then again to make needs static) and this lasted for the entire trip. Since my sims didn't need to stop a quest to sleep or eat, I was able to complete them in the crappy 3 day time limit.
Does anyone know how to send 2 sims on a quest together? I read that it can be done, but I didn't see an option that allowed it.

If you had come back saying how everything was smooth sailing, now that would have been a pleasant surprise. At least it ended up being somewhat fun. But strange when you do everything right as in taking out your downloads etc. I'm really thinking TS3 really hates any form of download even if it's shop. Oh yeah the addition of that shop while in game button annoys me no end!
With my game though, nothing had changed from the last time I played, which was ages ago. I wish it would have just crashed to desktop. How does a game freeze actually manage to turn a computer off?!
At least with TS2 now I can pretend to take a tot on holidays. The person who made the community hack said about making a holiday one too. Maybe I should see if it will allow tots on a real holiday...

That is a stupid thing.
I didn't try that button until I took out all my hacks, loaded the WA game, re-did the updates (cuz it made me), etc.
Is it your S3 crashing, Jo?

I bet if I opened CAS it would. It crashed 4 times as it freezing and turning my compter right off 4 times! I don't want to risk that again. So I just went and played a sim I had already made. Would be nice to make a new one, I wanted to try out some other traits. Just as well I hardly play it I guess.

Jo, try CAS in a different hood. Something may have gone stupid in your current hood that is causing it. It's really weird because it seems my hood isn't corrupt, just Sim Crissy because I can change appearance on my simself and her fiance without CAS crashing. I just can't do it without Crissy crashing CAS. I think one of the updates caused something stupid to happen and I just didn't notice it because I hadn't played that house in forever.

Did you just update, Jo, or did this happen after WA?

Jo just updated. She hasn't gotten WA yet. I think her crashes may be being caused by the store downloads that no longer work or something. It could and would be CAS related if its a hair that came from the store that she can no longer use. Even if they don't show in the game, the files are still there.

It actually ain't so bad, once you know what you're dealing with. It wasn't even WA that caused my problems. It was the last stupid patch before installing WA that did it because it has an added surprise of snatching back all your 'ill-gotten gains'. But that's ok because I found a work-around that works.

But my game crashed before and after updating. basically my game is a little played one with very little cc. Only one small file from the very first lot ever linked to. I hadn't I opened it in months and opened it yesterday to make sim. It crashed and turned my computer off 4 times in CAS, but the game played fine.
Now at the first crash nothing had changed. At that point I hadn't even applied the very first patch they put out. I have clicked cancel for months. I decided to patch, which was 2 or three of them which made me up to date on patches. Again CAS crashed and the few pieces of cc still show up. I don't think the sim even had cc on her. I used some short hairstyle that I think came with the game.
I can't remember all the places it crashed, but I know it crashed when I clicked on clothing colours, shoes and one time when I went to save and exit CAS.
I don't have WA. And seeing the first crash was before a single patch was put on that can't be it.
I did say to Tina I did download the new hood creator and started to install and canceled it on seeing a warning about hurting computers and it being Beta. So maybe I did something to my game by starting and stopping that installation. it's the only thing I have done to the game in months.

That is weird, Jo. If I were you, I'd uninstall it and then reinstall it. It's not like it's a big deal like with TS2 and all those expansions. That thing you started installing may have done something weird to your game. For the record, I did do a lot of searching this morning about crashes in CAS and couldn't find a darned thing that was related to your problem.

Yeah I'm thinking maybe I should. I was also going to mention that was a brand new hood. I clicked the + for a new game and chose Pleasant vally or whatever it is called then went from there directly into CAS. Which is as fresh as you can get it! Maybe it's just a little too much work for my computer? I have all the game settings on high and time goes fast and the graphics look good, but maybe that's the problem? So how do I do that again? I've forgoten where to go to uninstall.

You can go to start-program files-Electronic Arts- and there is an 'uninstall' option there. Or you can go to Program and Features on your computer and uninstall it from there as well.
