OMG! EVERY stray cat in the hood just HAS to show up at MY HOUSE! A cat showed up on my doorstep last night, and it's a very friendly, sweet, beautiful cat, but... when I went to pet it, I could feel its BONES! It had been crying under our carport and when I went out to see what was up, it ran to me. When I noticed it was starving, I just had to give it some food! I mean, how heartless and cruel would have to be to just allow it to starve to death when I have plenty of catfood in the house? Anyway, now it is hanging around the glass doors that lead from our dining/sun room into our pool area and my cats can see it. I have three cats already. Anyway, they all started hissing and growling at each other through the door and the next thing I knew, MY two cats were attacking EACH OTHER! *EEK* Needless to say, now the whole house is in an uproar because I got upset and starting spraying them with water and screaming at them. Next thing that happened was my OWN cats were hissing a growling at me, threatening to BITE me! As of now, I have managed to, I think, 'makeup' with my cats, but two of them are still agitated and wanting to attack each other. I just don't know WTF to do about all this mess now. Any ideas and/or suggestions would be welcome and appreciated. lol

Gosh, well I would have done the same thing-feed the poor thing. Your cats seem to be blaming you for bringing in an interloper though. I know when we got our second cat our first was in a foul mood for a couple of weeks. I'm surprised they are attacking each other though. Can you seperate them? I've had my older cat growl and hiss at me. She doesn't like anything to 'be done' to her. Using a water spray sounds right.

We have them separated right now. DH came home from work and wanted to let the one that I had in the bedroom loose, but I said that wasn't a good idea right now, so we waited awhile first. Just now, we tried letting them be in the same room, but they were still agitated at each other. This sucks because they both sleep together in our bathroom at night and if we don't get them to calm down before bedtime, I just don't know what we are going to do.

Maybe you will have to lock one up in the bathroom with a litter tray for the night. Well that's what I would do. Give it a blanket or something to sleep on and some food and water and lock it in. Not that it will happy of course. It will probably meow it's head off to be let out.

Wow! I sure hope they work it out before nighttime! What a mess! I know how you feel - I have 3 cats too & I'm trying to give one away before I move. The last thing I'd need is another one, but I've have fed it, too. I love the water bottle thing - a painless way to get your point across! Maybe you could put a cd player in the bathroom with some calm music on it. I have one cat that actually falls asleep when I play that.

Y'all didn't read my first post carefully enough. I said that both cats already sleep in our bathroom... together every night! Ah well, now they are both runnng loose around here somewhere and are not fighting now, so I guess all is good for now... thank goodness!

Sorry I read that as bedroom! I thought two cats fighting on your bed wouldn't be good!

This certainly explains the phrase 'cat fights' LOL...ahh Tina, I think you need to take care of your own first, kiss and make up with your cats first before showing sum loving to the strays

LOL! Well, things are going more smoothly now, but every now and then, Karma, the biggest cat, attacks the smaller one out of the blue for no reason. It happened again just now. It's like just seeing the stray out the window gets her all worked up, so she attacks the nearest feline available. I just don't get it, but it certainly is very disturbing to me.

Tina, I would be upset too. I would just keep a bottle of water with a little lemon juice handy and give them a squirt when they get out of line. Maybe get some 'cat off' and place some near the windows.

@jill! Well, as aggravated as I am over the whole mess, at least you made me giggle. Man, it's almost bedtime and the stupid cats are STILL at it! It's ridiculously stupid why they want to attack each other just because a stray cat is hanging around outside! I just don't get it. *sigh* Now we have to figure out how to keep them separated overnight.

Maybe one likes the new cat and the other wants to attack it, but the one that likes it is upset, so it snarels at the other... I don't know I have two cats, who are brother and sister. they are outdoor cats now, cause Christian, my youngest, is allergic They don't fight each other, but no stray would DARE come near our house.
