Well think what you see in dept stores in the US, multiplied by about 5 and you have the state of kids clothes over here. I'm glad Sarah doesn't want them, but because she refuses anything that isn't in a girly colour as well makes it super hard. I found one pair nice PJ's at target, the top was cute, but the pants to it were grey, would she have them? No. This is the first time I've bought Pj's from the US. I got her two pairs. Good going on the knitting Nicole! I haven't knitted anything for a very long time.

Congrats on the knitting!!! I used to do quilting - blankets, pillows, etc. It ended up that I was spending more on fabrics than I would on a store bought gift! Plus, I just never seemed to have the time & was rushing last minute to finish up!

I think I only knitted something once and that was a baby blanket while I was pregnant with my first baby. I don't remember if I ever finished it. It wasn't very good anyway!

I used to be pretty good. I should take a picture of the scarecrow doll I knitted 15 or so years ago. I got first place at our local ag show.

That's awesome, Jo! I'd love to see it. Last year I knitted Zack a stuffed crocodile that ended up being 2ft long, lol. And I've made lots of random things, I crocheted a really nice baby sweater when I was about..... 11 and I'm so proud of it. Now I just need to finish my mom's dishcloth for christmas... And get my brother's Timmy's gift card.

I never got round to knitting, but when I was really young, pretty much all my outdoor clothes were knitted by my Grandma and Great Aunt, they were brilliant at knitting and I loved the clothes. Christmas shopping is becoming annoying now though. I've sorted everyone except: My boyfriend's Dad. He's so nice that he'll act happy with anything, but he doesn't really do much besides his metal work. So I always buy him beer, then me and my boyfriend end up drinking it for him because he 'doesn't want to waste it'. *sigh* What on earth do I get him this year?

Is he into metal lathes? How about a sub to Model Engineer magazine? My dad loves his lathe and he bought those magazines for years.

I'm not sure. It's difficult because while he does it at work, his metal work at home is either full-on or he can't be bothered (like the half a boat stuck in the ground in their garden as an ornament) I might discuss it with my boyfriend again, we could go halves on something a subscription.

I have a friend who's a welder, and he always needs new welding gloves. We have a store here called Sears that carries stuff for metal workers, so you could do something with that, or google to see if there's a metal worker's catalog and give him a copy & a gift card.
Cute clothes, Jo!

Welding gloves... I burn through a pair about every 2 months. Boyfriend's fathers are the most difficult to shop for... I hate it...

If anyone needs to buy "New Moon" gifts, go to Burger King. When you buy a burger shot meal (6 tiny burgers, a side & a drink) you ge a coupon book for all sorts of New Moon stuff - some are mail in or internet offers, some are for stores lke Toys R Us and Hot Topic.

Aw, we only have Planet 51 stuff in Burger King over here... I've already got my friend's New Moon junk though, calendars and all sorts. Yep, especially when you go home and the boyfriend goes 'I got my dad a present! Now it's up to you, even though you wanted to go halves on it.' Yeah, thanks. *sigh*

Bad boyfriend, bad! Well, my Christmas shopping will officially begin after I take my mom to the doctor on Thursday. I thought it was tomorrow, but it turns out she had the day wrong, so... I get a break in between going to doctors two days in a row...lol Yay! I get to skip a day!

Nope that's when you say, "thank you for buying a gift from the two of us!" run off and wrap it/hide it. Do a card which says it's from both of you. The end. Then you tell them what wonderful present buyers they are and tell him he can do it each year from now on. ;D If the boyfriend is a long term prospect then don't let him start the present from you and from me nonsense! You have to train these men.
