Tellus about your *beast* of a computer ...Lets hear component specs.... How long have you had it? Does it perform as it should? Do you feel it needs upgraded or just tossed out the window.... Do you need help on figuring out a problem with it? Or do you just love it so much no further discussion is needed

Hey, they all know you broke my computer! You think they want you to help them with theirs??? LOL Actually folks, he has built two computers that work great. I don't know why mine decided to break just from taking out a video card. *sigh* Something was likely getting ready to wrong anyway.

I've had this one since last christmas, it's a laptop. The company is Acer? Yeah, that's it. I'm happy with it for the most part, it's got Vista, which I think is nice looking (if not really slow going). I've got Office 2007 which is beautiful, but I'll admit I only use Notepad if I'm just jotting something down.
The only problem I have with this is that it's really bad about internet connections and streaming media online. Things like watching a youtube video or simply listening to a song online are practically impossible. I don't know what could be the problem; I just attribute it to the fact that I'm on a laptop, but I've never heard other people with problems like this.

That slow speed you are experiencing is related to your onboard lan speed..Are you wireless always?
Oh... Hi dynamicblend
BTW...Acer does make nice laptops.....I have one of their monitors....

Yeah, I'm wireless -- our router is in the basement, so there's a floor between us! Would that cause a problem? Also, whenever the landline phone is being used the internet cuts off for me.
I am really happy with it! It has a webcam and a microphone built in and came with a lot of nice software. C:

The router being in the basement would not usually be the problem.... The signal is usually very strong from them...Its more than likely in your wireless card that was preinstalled in your laptop......
To test this all you need to do is go to the basement with a short ethernet cable in your hand...Turn off your laptops wireless and connect the ethernet cable to your computer and then into the back of your wireless router.....If your speeds for streaming greatly improve there is your answer......
Fix....You would need to upgrade your wireless card......
Why does an incomming call kick you off?? Hmmmm...get back on that one....

OK...Got some more info on this for you......Are you the only wireless in your house???/
It seems there are two major causes for this........
The first is that each landline phone in your house needs its own filter provided from your server installed before each phone..One also needs installed before your router......
The second and least likely is your server..You can call and explain to them the problem..but chances are they will ask about your filters being installed properly.....
The last would be a filter gone bad...This is the least likely of the possabalities...

If you do find the speeds way faster with the cable thats great...
The downside is that it would not be cost effective to have your wireless card replaced....But if its nice down there you could have a cable there for downloading way faster..You know,if its a finished basement and you felt like hanging out ....LOL

Geez I'm always late on posting everything *pout*. My computer is my baby, my friends say I cant get a man cause I'm already taken by Vaio. I had my laptop for a year now and it's a hot mess! The performance is still good (despite all the crap it's filled up with [stories, music, flicks, pictures...you name it I got it] mostly sims crap). I sit at it for no less than 12 hours when I don't have school or homework, and I have a bad habit of eating when I'm in front of the computer so a week ago it was infested with ants, they were crawling between my keys...ugh...it was horrible, I was afraid they were going to short circuit it or something cause there was like a nest in there. I hate vista so I'm still working with XP though most of the programs have been upgraded. Yup, I guess my computer is my best friend, it'll never let me down...except that it only lets me download sim related things from the exchange *pout*, or updates itself without me knowing, or does weird things like have these messages popping up from nowhere...but we usually work our problems out (when I yank the battery pack out )

I hate updates...Why not set it to noyify you before installing...Then you can pick what you don't want...Or when to let it install them....
