you can have a basic photoshop that costs around 200$ you can buy at costco or best buy but it's real crap. You can use a free thing called GIMP that does the job too I heard. I used it a little bit before I got photoshop

GIMP... I cannot work with GIMP! I downloaded and tried it once, but just couldn't get used to it. I HATE change! Oh I'd go for the 200.00 photoshop happily, but the ONLY thing that is compatible with 64 bit Vista is CS4.. *sigh* CS4 Extended, which is what my free trial is works with 3D animations/pictures, although I'm not interested is using it for that. It also has a paint/drawing program, but I'm also no artist...lol. All I want is to happily edit my darned pics and I LIKE photoshop and am angry that they have to make so difficult. They could make it compatible with my system, but they WANT people to have to upgrade to something more pricey...

oh yeah thats the crap I heard about! you can do better 3D stuff than with CS3! but why should I care because I already have 2 very fonctionnal 3D animation softwares and more coming soon. anyway... I didn't know the only compatible photoshop with your vista was the new one. Adobe are thieves!!!!

Yea... it IS a bit ridiculous. *shakes head sadly* It just isn't right, I tell ya. I don't for a minute believe they have to sell the program for THAT much to make money on it.

they probably don't have to sell it 600$ but they must think if someone really wants it they don't have a choice. after all the free alternatives like GIMP aren't that good. I heard there is a free version of photoshop or a crap like that coming with some Macs I think but it's really basic. All professional things are way too expensive. If I remember correctly I saw a software costing 9000$ once... can't remember what it was though. But still 9000$ who the heck would buy that?!?!?!

schools and companies are the only ones to buy those stuff I'm sure. Even if I was a millionaire I wouldn't pay that much money for that kind of things. You won't ever use it for what it's worth. There will always be things you'll never use.

Oh man ain't that the truth? This new trial I'm using is so different from the last version I had that I'm having trouble finding things in it! I don't know why they think they have to change the interface so drastically! I liked it fine the way it was before....

you have an older version than CS3 maybe that's why at school we have macs so it's divided (mac and PC) and on the PC section we have an older version of photoshop (I think it's photoshop 6) it's really different of the version we have under mac. So I imagine your version with CS4 ... :s oh I know why they do that. It's because they want you to buy the book that explains how it works

Mine is Photoshop Elements 5.0. I like it just fine and it does the jobs I want if for, but it just isn't compatible with vista 64 bit at all. I don't understand why it worked fine on the computer I had before this one. It was vista 64 bit too. The only difference is a few of the components like motherboard, graphics care, etc, but I guess those things can make a difference, especially since my video card switched from nvidia to ATI. Ah well, it is what it is.

strange. I learned something a long time ago : never try to understand computers. It is useless except if you want a headache

LOL! I don't know... I know a helluva more now than I used to, even though I've had a lot of headaches. They say ignorance is bliss, but it's really not if you end up messing something and not being able to figure it out/fix it once it's screwed....lol

honestly as long as it works the way I want I am happy. If it's not I get mad. and that's why last week I tried to figure out why the thing I wanted to do wasn't working during 13 hours........ I hate computers ... (but I love them at the same time hehehe)

I know what you mean Mae! I have actually been 'forced' to learn more things about computers so that I can have things working the way I want them. See? Ignorance just leads to getting mad, but knowledge leads to solutions.
