Ahh, thank you Esme! I knew it didn't look like the kimonos I knew, but wasn't sure what it was called. I love learning new things *renames pictures of qipao*. The whole dress is one layer, the pattern looks like maxis originally added it as a layer, over the whole thing, then flattened it. I can't seem to open it as anything but one image with one single layer with everything on it. So if I painted the pattern, it might need to be handpainted? I'll put that one on hold, 3 dresses is probably enough... I'm worried that my date is a super good creator and might do a lot for me, so I'm attempting to do a lot of stuff, so if I can't do some of it, then the stuff that's left should be enough. The events on GoS have always confused me, some creators make one thing with lots of detail and it's fabulous, others make tons and tons and tons of stuff and spoil their dates (Trapping always makes a lot, as does Shastakiss). That year when Sophie made an entire neighbourhood, with terrain, lots, sims, NPCs, everything, all for a Secret Santa! That was just amazing!

If it's flattened, then it would probably need to be handpainted at least once, I would think. I mean, maybe you could do the handpainting in a separate layer and recolor that over and over, but you're spoiling your date a lot already, so you should be OK without that work. I think Trapping and shastakiss spend time on creating like we spend on playing/writing, plus they have a lot of practice. I think the effort and the fun are what should be equal, not the number of shinies.

I would go for quality over quantity, but also I wouldn't look at what people like Trapping do, they are like 'professional' cc makers. Some of them are graphic artists for a living.

You're right about the 旗袍 hugging the figure! They leave so little to the imagination! You also have to be a lot skinnier than I am at present to wear one *sigh* :,(

Keeping myself accountable and updating you all. Today is the day we find out who our date is, and I'm not finished with my gifts yet, but it's only 9am. I've changed my mind about which dresses I'm doing, I've now done 2 of them (well, I've done 5, but only imported my favourite 2 into the game), and just have to take previews today. I'm really happy with them, and they look much better in-game than they did in bodyshop. I found a furniture set to recolour and had to email the creator as one of the pieces wasn't coming up as recolourable. So I've done the pieces that are, and when the creator releases the fixed mesh, I'll do the previews for that. I finished the heart cushion first, and will include that in the preview with the furniture. I made 5 walls last night but I haven't tested them in game yet, so some of them may need to be changed. Mind you, they're meant to be AL ceiling friendly, and I don't have AL, so I'll have to hope about that bit. I've tried and tried with hair retextures, and I've learnt a lot, but still not done any I'm happy with. One more try at that this morning, and hopefully it'll work. I'm just not used to working with textures that have shine and highlight to them. Then I just need to have a run through teenage clothes and objects this morning to see if there's anything else I can add; before doing my pictures. I'm actually really looking forward to a day of creating, and I'm having a night out tonight with my friends to celebrate. *edit* Identities have been revealed and I was right, my blind date is Keoni! Eeeee!

Making the most of the long weekend and finishing some (very) long overdue simming projects. So, Katie, here are your sims! CharitySusannahThey are as above, pretty much. I'm happy with them, which is a rare thing, so although they're not 100% accurate, they're the best I'll get them. Hope you like them, and if you want anything changing, just let me know.

So, I've been attempting to make things again! Esme, you may remember mentioning Roman things (um, in December), and I've been poking at bodyshop and trying things out. I've learnt a lot, but so far I haven't been able to finish anything. One thing I did find, when I was trying to fit a roman dress onto an elder mesh, was that Cynnix had already age converted the dress I was trying to do! But this is a good thing because I was hoping to make recolours of these, and now I have them for teen through to elder, so that I can do. I found a few more meshes to try to edit and/or recolour, and I also found a good mesh for the men, so I'm a few steps closer to making something. I'm taking things slowly at the moment (builders are due in the next few weeks!), but I'm enjoying the process.

That's a very nice mesh, Amy, and how lucky that it was already available in the right ages! Enjoying the process is what it's all about, really, isn't it? I'm playing and writing super slowly myself these days, and building half the time I boot the game up. So enjoy the creating -- it seems like lots of fun!

I'm glad I found those already done, I was having trouble getting the sleeves on the elder dress to map! Basic recolour test was a success, hooray! I just picked a random colour, Anna's Red in this case, to make sure it was a simple process. So that's something I can do to relax at some point, I'll do them when I've got more time to get the braid the right colour and work on the texture a bit more. Any particular colours you want for your Romans Esme, or is that something you'll know when your CtoF gets nearer to the time period? I've got lots more ideas for this, but it's finding the right components that takes the time. Definitely interesting and fun though. I've been really enjoying seeing your building on Tumblr Esme, everything looks great and I love the museum.

Nope, no colors in particular. Chances are fairly high, though, that they'll be either blondes or redheads, so nothing that will clash with either of those hair colors. (Orange probably wouldn't work all that well.) Speaking personally, I don't much care for brown, either, so... not orange and not brown? For hairs I like Remified hairs like you usually do -- our styles play very nicely together. I've been enjoying doing the building you're seeing, so that works out well.
