Hopefully I'll keep this thread updated if and when I'm working on stuff. Last night I worked on a lot, so here's a few Work In Progress pictures to start with. Skye's hair that I'm recolouring for Esme's challenge currently looks like this: I want to get the hair on the scalp to line up better, and I might thicken the texture of the curls at the back, not sure yet. Jo's sign is a very early basic mock-up, but it currently looks like this: Subject to change a lot, but I wanted to finally start it. The colours of the wood and the text were taken from the picture of the restaurant itself, but I want to change the size of the text, and although I liked the pictures in the corners yesterday, today I don't think they work. Jo, how would you like it to look? Do you want pictures, or a border, or different colours? Katie, I have been working on your sims for you, I currently have 3 versions of Charity in my bodyshop, but I'm not happy with any of them! I'll get there, some days I can make tens of sims, but other days it just gets frustrating. Yesterday and today I just stared at her nose and chin... I've also made three of Ja-Viera's steampunk dresses into tops, but apparently I forgot to get photos of those...oops.

Skye's hair looks great! It looks like you got those weird alpha issues sorted out that made the scalp part look green. I don't see the problems you're not happy with, but the point is that you be happy, yes? Noses are hard to get right. Really, really, hard. Probably the hardest part of the whole equation. Good luck!

I love the idea of taking the colours in the restaurant and using them on the sign. Maybe a thin boarder of leaves and flowers?

If you're happy with it Esme then that's great! It's just along the hair line where it meets her head, I was playing with the angles on it for ages trying to make it look natural, and I never know when to stop... Jo, good thinking, I was wondering about a leafy border too, but trying to find leaves is proving hard. I've got loads of flowers on transparent background, but...ooh, wait, hang on...the Seasons Autumn skilling bar has leaves, I must have those on my hard drive somewhere...hmm. I'll go and have a search. ;D

Only three versions of Charity? I'd probably end up with ten times that amount before I'd be satisfied. ;D Seriously though, thanks for taking on the sim-making challenge for me.

I tend to clone the sim, make the edits, and delete the original clone if the new one is better, I'm on something like Charity version 8 without the deletions. I'll have another try in a moment. And Jo, I put a border round your sign, but the border's a bit big, so I'm still searching for the right thing. For the time being, I made do with what I have to get the right placing: But you're right, it definitely needs a thin border, and leaves would look better than flowers I think... finding leaves is proving a pain though! I know what I want it to look like, it's just getting it there. And today, I finally got Skye's hair to the point where I'm happy with it: It probably looks the same as the above picture to anyone but me, if a little messier, but the curls at the back are double the thickness, and the hair on the scalp all faces the right direction with the right shading and that's the first time I've managed that! The overlap is more noticeable, but it sort of looks like she's pulled it back into a ponytail? Esme, if you're happy with this version, I can upload it for you tomorrow night? *edit* Ok, I'm happy with the bottom half of Charity's face? I'm definitely not using the right eyes (or possibly brows too) though, so I'll work on that tomorrow. Hmm, on second glance, I might take the corners of her jaw and the sides of her nose back out one notch again. I'm so indecisive, I've been switching them in and out and in again!

The hair looks great, Amy! Thanks! I would say that the only difference between the sim and the picture is that the real woman's chin is a tad softer, but I think that's a limitation of CAS. The jaw and the nose look spot-on to me.

Thanks Esme. That's the trouble with CAS, I think I've been switching things in one click and back out again because in reality it's probably half a click in the middle that's right. Yay, glad you like the hair! I was so pleased when I finished it, it's the first proper angling I've done with a hair, they've all been straight down from the hairline before. It's getting on for 11pm here now, so I should be getting to sleep, but I'll finish the other ages and upload it tomorrow for you. Are you ok with me doing just the blue colour?

Oh, yes, just the blue is fine! You've made me some nice colors in other hairstyles, and those should hold me for a bit. With a little luck, Skye's kids will inherit a more forgiving jawline, meaning that they can use more than one hairstyle.

Here you go, Esme! I gave in to my pedantic side and gave the scalp one last retexture, a picture of the hair as it is now is in the zip file, and I've included the mesh in there too. Let me know if anything doesn't work.

Thanks Katie! It's getting her eyes right that's the difficult bit, they're very unique... Jo, I'm still on the search for some leaves, by the way.

Heh. Yeah, those eyes... Bah, those leaves. You'd think something so common would be easier to find.

It's getting the right leaves that's difficult (and ones with a background I can work with, as GoS - home of the transparent background tutorial - is still down). When I get something in my head, I have to find exactly what I'm looking for.

I love it when random things end up inter-linked. ;D I was just reading up on novel world building, still debating whether to give NaNoWriMo a try this year (yes, with 3 days to go before it starts), and there, on the webpage I was scrolling down, was the exact border I wanted for Jo's sign! I'll work on it as soon as I've finished my writing this evening, Jo.
