Maxis Make Over nominations

Thought it might help if we keep our ideas all in one place.

What I would like is nominations for who you think we should make over. For those who may not have noticed the talk in the coffee shop, this is to be a cc free (apart from defaults) make over contest. Either straight from the game, the shop or maxis lost and found. Many people have defaults so I won't ask for those to be removed just stated. As removing defaults could disrupt someone’s play or filming when the game can take so long to load. Maybe if there were prizes, but it's just a bit of fun. How about we make it a rule that no makeover comes with more than 2 defaults on the sim. I know from my own game now that I have skin and eyes if I added default clothes and hair my sim could end up being full of cc.

So who would you like to see made over? And how many would you like to do?

Themes: I was thinking each round would have two makeovers. A straight up make over and a themed makeover. The theme will be revealed each round.

I'll nominate Chester Geek (sp?) Gilbert Jacquet, Cassandra Goth(she always needs a makeover) The Celent sisters(sp?) Don and the Pleasant twins.

Chester Gieke is a very good candidate for a makeover! Hmmm... How about Johnny Smith, Ripp Grunt, and Chloe Singles? And maybe Gilbert Jaquet's mother? Not all old ladies wear sacks, you know!

Chester is a great idea! And all the teens in Strangetown, too. So Ophelia, Johnny, Ripp, Tank...I think that's all of them?

I don't really want to do the Jaquets as I don't have Bluewater and don't want to add any sub-hoods or extra characters to the clean hoods I have.

Agreed with the Pleasantview make-overs, it's been ages since I made over Don, Nina, Dina and Cassie.

Trying to remind myself about who actually comes with the game! It's been so long since I had clean neighbourhoods.

Okay so we'll rule out Blue Water sims and focus on Pleasntview and or Strange town then?

How many sims do we want to make over?

Do you want the theme with each round? So you would do a regular make over and then the themed one, which would be an open ended interpretation. (we are just working with maxis stuff after all) So the theme might be 'beach holiday' for round one and you would dress the sim for that occasion how you think they would dress.

Question: Chester Gieke comes with OFB, I think, in the bin. Since I play with empty templates, I don't have him. Is he available for download anywhere? Because he does need a makeover!

EDIT: Do we all get to submit ideas for themes? Or do you have a list already, Jo?

You may submit names and theme ideas and I will mix them up and draw them from a hat, what do you think of that? So think occasions or situations for the themes. It could even be 'a job interview' anything open to interpretation.

I've downloaded sims from that page before and they've been fine.

I like the ideas for themes so far. It'll take me a while to come up with stuff, I've just got back from work and my brain is asleep...

How long shall we have the contest going on for? And is the theme and the normal make-over for the same sim, or is it one sim made over normally and another one for the theme?

The theme is for each sim, so normal makeover and themed one. Feel free to use props so long as it's Maxis stuff. Including castaway and story stuff as that often comes without an cc asterisk.

Esme, how would you do sick day? In pyjamas? I know what I would do given cc, but is there anything in game that says sick? Was that what you were thinking?

I might do a sick day in pajamas, with a sniffly nose (if that makeup didn't come with Happy Holiday Stuff). I might do it with hanging over a toilet, or clutching a tummy. Or I might do it as shopping/getting a manicure, in which case it would be a "sick" day. (Since Sims can call in sick even if they aren't ill.)

I guess how many rounds we have depends on how many Sims we have, right? I don't think we need two or three weeks per round, though, since makeovers aren't quite as labor-intensive as building. Does that make sense?

And what about 3to2 conversions? That's EA content, but it comes up with a custom star so I'm inclined to say no... I agree with the castaway/life/pets stories though.

I wasn't allowing convertions as those are sims 3 items not sims 2. Only items from Sims 2 (That includes life stories and pet stories and castaway) Some comes with a star and some doesn't but all of those will be allowed. Maxis lost and found-those are found in the game files and extracted by people. Anything that can be unlocked with a cheat such a career rewards or unlocked in CAS with a cheat or made byable, such as work wear. This goes for all props and backgrounds.

Amy did you want to add any themes? I might make a poll on the themes.

My mind's coming up empty Jo, sorry! All the theme suggestions so far are great, it's bad timing from me because whenever I come on DD I've always just got home from work and my imagination just doesn't want to work...

Sims - Olive Specter, Erin Singles, Brandi Broke, the whole Ottomas family, especially Dora.
And if we're doing Riverblossom there's always Leod, or the Roth family, or Rose Greenman's husband whose name I've forgotten. Jason, possibly?

I don't think I have Riverblossom in. Also how many sims did we want to make over? We are getting quite a lsit. Maybe I should just put down sims and themes and see how we go?

Nothing helps Dora, not even a ton of cc and this is only Maxis, but we could try.

Sounds good to me Jo, we could pick a neighbourhood to start with and go from there? If we could do all the sims we want from one neighbourhood and then move to the next 'hood, rather than doing a mix that would help me, as I have to copy and paste each Maxis neighbourhood into my game when I want to use it.

I've never done one of these, but it looks like fun! I'll just follow everyone's lead...
