OK, I burned my soapbox yesterday, so this is not in defense of Ho Sung necessarily, but just a statement of fact: I did a bit of research yesterday and I learned that in Ho Sung's culture, what he did isn't really considered cheating. It is perfectly acceptable for a man to have multiple wives or a concubine. The dishonor was not in having sex with another woman, but in leaving his wife because of it. I was going to explain a bit further in Ho Sung's situation, but I am going wait and put it in the next chapter. |

You sound like me! It's ok for ME to have several different men, but not the hubby! Actually the second wife and those thereafter are supposed to be subservient to the first wife. Of course, you'd still have to put up with your hubby picking the one he wants to sleep with at night. That sort of thing definitely is NOT for me, but if it was your culture and way of life, the only thing you ever knew, then that would be a different story.

Sounds like Big Love on HBO! Lol! I actually like that show, but haven't seen it since I cancelled HBO when True Blood ended for the season. I'll be getting it back come June for Season 3, which will make me fantasize about having a hot vampy concubine!

I used to read a bunch of Amy Tan. She rights a lot about the Chinese culture. "The Joy Luck Club" "The Kitchen Gods Wife", etc.
There still is an arranged marriage, first, second, third wife culture. Concubines, etc. It is very interesting. It's mostly in upper class soceity but still very prevalent nowadays.
I'm waiting for Season Two of True Blood to come out so I can get them on Netflix!!! I want to see me some naked Eric!
