Like no place to plug in new hard drives However, the ONLY problem with building your own PC is that you have no tech support if something goes wrong. That all depends on who you get to build it for you. LOL@Jill!

OH! Well he didn't know EXACTLY what it was called, but knew it was out there. So I have been looking (not too seriously yet) and whenever I Google "Port, hard drive, usb" or some other variation all I get are docks for PORTABLE hard drives.
Maybe Tina or Harley would know better where to look or what to type into google.

I know what you need to do... First..Don't follow that other advice...LOL You are refering to SATA connections on your motherboard first off.. i'll be back in a minute with your answer This is what you need...Its an IDE drive..Not SDATA...A tad slower..But you will never notice it...The IDE type drives use the big ribbon cables, not the thin sata ones... www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136199Then you need this cable www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681210402912 inches should be enough...Model / Make will tell me that info... Do you have a model number of your computer and I will check and be sure you have an open IDE slot on your motherboard...

I am not going to buy a new hard drive. i want to use the perfectly good old one from mu old computer. The problem is there is there is a spot to put it but no power source on the Mother Board. Two power sources, both being used by the hard drive and CD/DVD Drive.

Not a problem Holly... Here is my advice..its simple to do... As you only have two sata connections on your motherboard.. Make one of those avaible....How you ask? Purchase this IDE DVDRW ...That and the ribbon cable in the post above will cost you like 25 bucks www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106085Once installed you now have your second SATA connection avaible for your extra HDD.. Pulling your DVDRW out and installing the new one is SIMPLE./.Connecting the ribbob cable for it too is SIMPLE Adding your used HDD is SIMPLE too.. BTW...Here is your Computer....Now discontinued ... www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883109029That is your cheapest and best thing to do...

So, this IDE DVDRW will free a sata connection (power source) on the mother board so i can plug in my OLD Hard Drive?
Ok, I'll see what i can do. My DH still wants to do it the other way. For one, it's his brother who told him to do it that way, and two, with the usb we can just switch out the hard drives without having to open up the puter.
I am going to talk to my BIL about what you said and see if i can't get him on board to convince DH.
Thanks for the help Harley.
