I never had any problems with my sims game before. Until now. I opened my game only to discover that EVERYTHING WAS GONE! no more CC, no more custom hood. NOTHING. I backed up my thing but don't remember where I put the file snif snif snif

OMG!! I wonder what happened? That sucks really bad! Hopefully you'll find the backup files. What did you do the last time you played or between that last time and this time?

nothing much. not with the sims game anyway. I installed something that had nothing to do with it.... I found the backup file but it was outdated so I have lost my 11 kids snif snif and Damian too I'll never be able to recreate him ...

Bummer that system restore doesnt work on documents.

Hey Mae.. I just thought of something! You have Vista, right? Why don't you go into your documents folder's properties and tell it to restore a previous version? You may just be able to get your stuff back if you have a version from before the incident happened.

nah I restored the thing twice already but like tina said it doesnt work on document

Oh man.... I'll bet you have Vista Home, don't you? I've just discovered another good reason for having Ultimate instead of Home... In ultimate, you can restore previous versions of folders. Check out the pic below:



If you had Ultimate, you could cllick on one of those other versions and have your folder back just like it was on the specified date. Darn! I'm so used to having Vista Ultimate, that I forget that a lot of people have the Home edition so they don't have all the features I have.

That sucks. Sure wish I could have helped you out...

ah well thanks for the help anyway. Besides Damian and the hair I'm looking for it's okay. I recreated my sim self and stephen hehe *preparing hugging sessions* and I have all my other characters. it's like a new game I didn't want but still...

How do you know what version of Vista you have?
Thought I would make myself a new game back up what with so many people losing their games lately. Well you make the third, but that's 3 too many! Now I simply copy paste to a folder on my desk top, which I guess isn't the safest backup if anything happened to my computer, but I don't know how to do one to a disk? DH mumbles something about it's probably too big...?

Hey Jo... if you right click on the computer icon on your desktop and choose properties, it will tell you what version you have.

You can buy a flash drive to make a backup of your game files on. They don't cost a whole pile of money these days and it's easy to use. It just plugs into your usb port on your computer and then you can drag or copy and paste your game files onto it.

My whole sims 2 folder is almost 9 gigs big, but that is with all the hoods, downloads, etc. If necessary, you can split some of those up and put them on seperate discs, flash drives, etc. Where there is a will, there is a way!

i bought an external hard drive, not for the sims but for schiool. and because its 500 gig it will be bvery useful to keep my things (note to self : maybe you should back it on it NOW hehe)

That's another great option! I have one and it has become my best friend! You wouldnt even believe how many versions of my sims 2 folder it has on it.
