Tina: What makes it worse is that, apparently, we'll need to complete many of these "quests" if we want any sim to have a decent vacation home.

When your sims go on vacation they are limited in the amount of time they can stay in a region by their visa level; at the earliest levels your visa might last a few days, while at the higher levels it might last a couple of weeks. A high visa level will even let you build a vacation home to stay in, because at the low visa levels you'll be staying in a base camp that's essentially a small tent lot.

They've combined all of the annoying features, requiring everyone to play their way or not play at all, while simultaneously excluding many obvious features from past expansions that would add depth to all play styles. It was not an oversight.

Karima: I might as well go back to playing mickey mouse games on my cousin's old super nitendo.

The stuff about basements also sparks my interest. Do you think it's too hopeful of me to consider that they might be implementing access to other lots via underground tunnels?

So you have to do these tasks to get anywhere with it? Trust EA. The addition of puzzles I think was a good idea, but then it should be up to the player to decide which sims are going to do it or not. And no hotels?
So if you want your newly weds to go on a honeymoon it will be to a tent.

Yep. Seems to me that until or unless you are able to 'upgrade' by completing tasks/puzzles, that you are stuck in a tent.

I saw no mention of hotels in any of the reviews so far.

Well I guess after you have completed the tasks a few times at least it should be easy to get them all done- I hope. Still they shouldn't have set it up like this.

The puzzle element doesn't bother me so much, only because there will be so many cheats and walk thru's posted around, that it really shouldn't be too hard to get your sim upgraded to the longer vacation where you can actually enjoy it.

I am quite excited for many of the things, but I wish they would show something other than gosh darn Egypt! D:
Oh, and the repetitive thing seems poopy. That'll get really annoying after a while.

Well, I can grouse all I want, but I'm not fooling anyone. I know I'll be getting it. DH will probably get it for me & save it for a Christmas gift, so I probably won't actually install it until then. But I know I'll have it.
