Hey that's good news! I did read that you have to actually turn edge scrolling on because it's off by default. Yeah, the sims store is crap. That's why I'm glad we have Maty. Folks are already sharing that stuff over there.

LOL! Those folks over at Maty are pretty quick! Don't forget to check out JMP's new tool for installing the stuff. I'm a bit confused about it all because I don't have the game to look at for reference, but it doesn't seem too difficult...lol

no it's easy actually. you put the I forgot the name thing in the sims 3 folder and after that you can install whatever you want I already put some things : new default skin (more realistic it said but I didn't notice much changing :s ) new patterns, and I think that's it When you'll get the game (if you want to have it hehe) you'll find it really easy to install stuff because you're already used even though there are some small changes

Are you talking about putting something from Maty in the sims 3 folder? I think you need to find out the name and post it here.

I've installed a few things in the game via the launcher. I didn't want to do too much until someone did a clean installer-type thing, but I HAD to get some better looking sims in there! Also, the story editor is in the launcher as well. You have to upload your pics to the launcher (via the launcher - hard to explain, but very easy to do. I uploaded the ones of my simself playing guitar, just to teach myself how.) Everything is done thru the game launcher now. The only thing is, it tells you "download failed" if you try to download something on the exchange that is from the Sims3 Store. The launcher knows what you have gotten from the store. It does leave it in your download queue, so when you do get the items that were recolored, etc, you can download it again. As a matter of fact, I don't see a way to remove things from there once you've downloaded it. It keeps track of everything. (it says it does because you might need to download it again. Hmmm)
I've finally met the Goth family in town, but I still can't find their house. On the Sims 3 bbs, a lot of folks are saying the game crashes when they try to play the Goths. (Mortimer is a boy, and Bella is a girl - Bella Bachelor) I'll let you know as soon as I find their house. I did find Bella's.
Being able to go around town is cool. Even if you can't go inside when they're at work, or attending classes, etc, when they're done, they hang around outside, so you get to meet a ton of townies. My rock stars get a chance card (they're called opportunities now) where they get to hang out with the band. (again, because it's at work, you don't see it) But they become acquaintances, so you can call them, invite over, etc. It takes forever to get a romantic relationship off the ground. I found once they become best friends, if you use the "cuddle on couch" command, they get to kiss much sooner. Oh, I found the edge scrolling option - thanks, Tina! Much better navigation. The story progresion & ages can be turned on & off, but if you turn it back on for say, a legacy house, it comes on for every house, so it doesn't let you do it per house permenantly. What I'm waiting to see is what stuff from the expansions it came with. Like the seeds - you can garden like in Seasons. (I don't know if the seasons change, and I haven't made a garden yet, but I got the stuff from the in game grocery store to do it with.) There's only one telescope, so I don't know if there's alien abductions yet. There is some grey skin tones, so I'm thinking vamps or zombies must be in there somewhere. They definitely encourage you to visit the grave yard, and mention something waits there - so I'm guessing vamps. Still looking for a ghost, but I've made friends with Crumplebottom, who's husband is a ghost, so hopefully I can throw up some pics of that soon.

Thanks Jill for all info. There IS a type of clean installer for TS3! It's by fjade and there is info about it at MATY. I suggest that you go there and read up on a few things before you download too much. JMP says the launcher is CRAP for installing things because it renames everything to those long strings of numbers. This game also leaves crap in a few different places when you download that are useless and take up hard drive space unnecessarily. Great going, EA! Also, story progression is broken and doesn't work as intended. EA has even admitted it and has posted a work-around on their site. There are NO alien abductions. The ghosts are the only supernatural creatures with the base game. That is another thing I dislike about the game. I find the way ghosts work to be completely ridiculous and stupid! Whoever heard of ghosts that can reproduce? And no... there are no seasons or weather.

LOL@sucromfied! Nope! But, I'm still not crazy about it. SucUrom doesn't actually install onto your computer with The Sims 3, from everything I've read. It stays on the disc. When I get it, I'm not installing ANYTHING until I read more and start to understand the methods of installing that JMP recommends. Right now, it seems that sub-foldering downloads is impossible. So... I want to at least make sure that I don't have a bunch of 456723aghe.... sort of names on my content! By gosh, I want to KNOW what I have in my game, so I want to make sure all my stuff has recognizable names at least.

Well guess what? Now I have the game. Yep... I just couldn't stand it anymore, so I got it. I haven't installed it yet. It may be a day or two before I do, but I did it open it so I could register it at the website.

Actually, I do have a crack for it. Whether the BOTH games fit on your computer depends on your available hard drive space. I have THREE hard drives on mine and LOTS of empty space. It's sort of like inside my head.

I think I will continue to wait. Don't want to pay $88 for this and muck anything up.
