To all who haven't read it yet, I suggest reading the first segment of this, which is on page one) before reading the one below. desirablediscourses.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=screenshots&action=display&thread=1249&page=1#41074
The wee, early-morning hours found Jo, once again midnight farming to keep the family from starving. She, herself, was hungry enough to pause for a bite.
As usual, the morning bathroom congregation began.
Sawyer: "I'm telling you, Jill, if I could only get my hands on an easel, I could paint awesome pictures and have us out of here in no time!"
Sawyer made his exit and was quickly replaced by Sue and Jo.
Holley: "God, will you people please move out of the way so I can fix that broken sink?"
It was peaceful and quiet out by the pond, so Lynda decided to try to get that fourth elusive fishing skill point.
She had not quite gotten to that point, though, before she heard her name being called. It was time to head out for The Gazebo. They had heard there was a chess table there and it was time for Sue to work on building those logic skills.
Although, Lynda had been the last one to get on the shuttle, she was the first off and made a dash for the park.
At first there was a bit of confusion as to what to do next. Although everyone was a bit peckish from hunger, Sue made a beeline straight for the chess table to get started.
I spotted the grill and was very anxious to begin cooking, but I could not until Lynda gained her fourth fishing skill. I also noticed the river was very close, so I suggested to Lynda to go fishing. If she got that fourth skill before leaving the park, I would be able to grill us up something besides fruit to eat. She quickly agreed.
Lynda whistled a happy tune as she fished her little heart out. She was getting very close. "Come on, come on" she whispered eagerly to herself. "Got it!" she cried happily as she put away her fishing pole and ran back to The Gazebo.
No sooner had she gotten back, than I had my tongs in hand. Hotdogs appeared as if by magic on a tray and I tossed them on the grill. Oh, how my stomach rumbled in anticipation and delight when the aroma reached my nostrils!
While the food was cooking, everyone spent some time chatting to keep their minds off the food until it was ready.
Jo: "I'm telling you, Holley, if only I could get my hands on a can of seeds, I could work miracles!"
Holley: "Maybe so, but you are not allowed to plant anything until Tina gains four cooking skill points." Jo knew that was true, but she also knew it would not be long, by looking at the way I was happily and expertly flipping those dogs!
Mae spent her time working on her charisma skill points with one of the neighborhood folk who happened to be spending his day at the park, while Sue was hard at work on her logic skills.
Soon, everyone came running when they heard me holler that lunch was ready.
I don't know who this woman is, but she she had some nerve to just pick up my freshly-made plate of hotdogs and throw it away!
It actually turned out okay, though, because it gave me an excuse to get up and make some more, which earned me my first cooking skill point.
I so proud and happy that I went and bragged about my cooking prowess to a fellow park goer. It wasn't very received though. I don't know if it was because my homelessness had caused my hygiene to not be the best or if he just wan't interested in cooking, but I didn't care. I was still as elated as I could be.
Jo was enjoying a second helping of the great hotdogs. Everyone was enjoying the food so much that even Sawyer, who is a vegetarian, grabbed one for himself.
Although Sawyer enjoyed having his stomach full, the hotdogs didn't agree with him.
This is his, "Oh God, I don't feel so good" face...lol
Sue and Lynda decided to work off some of the calories from the meal by dancing together, while Sawyer tried to sleep off his illness.
But it didn't work. Sawyer's stomached rolled and tumbled like a small fishing boat on stormy seas. He groaned and stood up.
He was so sick, it felt as if the stuff was coming out of his eyeballs.
He wretched harder and thought the stuff would never stop coming.
[
No one noticed Sawyer's distress and for that he was grateful. Lynda had wandered off and later told the group that she had discovered this really cool place called 'All the Rave Warehouse. Jill joined Sue at the chess table, while the other's paired off and got lost in deep conversations.
Jill grew frustrated at getting beaten by Sue at chess in every game. Sue's logic skill points had grown considerably. When some strange kid asked if she'd toss the football with him, Jill hurriedly accepted the offer.
Jill wasn't very good at football either. She kept dropping or missing the ball when the kid tossed it to her.
When the kid grew bored, took his ball, and ran off, Jill went back to watching Sue play chess. Man she was good!
The stereo broke and Holley decided to fix it. It was a good thing too, because it helped her gain that very important fourth skill point. Holley, you go girl!
Sawyer had taken another nap on the bench and was feeling much better. He woke just in time to see Holley get her fourth skill point and decided to go in search of some rocks, since he would be able to sell them. It came just in time for them to avoid a visit from the repo man.
The group noticed a suspicious character or two hanging out in the park. One of them was someone they hoped would never visit the abandoned park they called home.
Mae didn't let that stop her from working toward her goal of five charisma points though. Sue also still hard at work.
As late afternoon drew near, most everyone was exhausted and headed back home to catch some zzz's.
There was one who just refused to go back to that aweful place where she was forced to live. Even though homeless folks don't really have cell phones, it can't be helped in TS3 and Jo refused to stay off hers. Even though she was dead tired and thinking of sleep, she insisted on calling various others to chat, no matter how many times I canceled the action hoping she'd give up and go home.
Finally, natured forced her to get off the phone.... lmao!
Finally, after a few hour's sleep on the ground, she got up and headed home.
Upon her arrival home, she was greeted by Mae, who was ever the charmer.
Jo: "As much as I'd like to discuss everything under the stars withe you, I must catch some sleep now."
A few hours later, the morning talks began. Mae roped Jill into a discussion which gained her fourth charisma skill point.
Way to go Mae! Only one more to go.
Holley: "Instead of stealing and bringing home shower stalls, why doesn't Sawyer steal something we could use,
like a stereo? Then we could listen to some good music around here!"
Mae: "Oh, what are we gonna do? I'm hungry, filthy, and I don't have a nice bed to sleep in!" >sniff<
This is Mae's "I just can't take this anymore!" face. She's so upset that her eyelashes are even standing upright! LMAO!
Lynda: "Our situation may not be the best, but at least we don't have mice!"
By mid morning, everyone's poor hygiene was beginng to show.
It's hard to see because of the trees in the background, but Sue has a green fog hovering around her.
Jo, I don't think brushing your teeth is going to help much here. It looks like a whole body wash is in order!
Time to head for the gym to grab that free shower!
While the others are enjoying hot showers, Holley, Sawyer, and I get stuck in that annoying loop of sniffing, fanning,
and holding our noses. So I reset them and it's back home we go!
The evening passes uneventfully, or so it would seem since I forgot to take pictures...lol. The next day, instead of going to the gym or The Gazebo, we decide to check out the cool new place Lynda found. (Actually the "All The Rave Warehouse" was not such a cool place until I fixed it up a bit. The remodeled version is available for download on my simpage.)
Needless to say, I was thrilled to see there was a grill and after a quick shower, I headed straight for it.
I was happy that I had avoided the traffic jam in the bathroom.
Since Lynda could not get to a shower right away, she opted for a quick nap. The soft, pliable sofa was definitely a step up from the wooden park bench to which she had grown accustomed.
After getting clean up and filling up our bellies, some of us settled in for a nice read. These are regular books, since no skilling books are allowed.
Soon, I rose to go make more hotdogs. Finally I was awarded with that fourth skill point! It was very exciting, because now Jo will be able to plant a vegetable garden of our very own!
Jill was busy making goo-goo eyes at Don Lothario.
Mae decided to celebrate by dancing with one of our neighbors from around town.
After dinner, a few of us decided to do a bit more reading.
Back at home, Mae was working hard to gain that fifth charisma skill point. She must have greeted Ruby Broke as she strolled past the lot because she certainly was not invited over as that is not allowed in this challenge.
Way to go Mae! While talking to Ruby, Mae got her fifth charisma skill point, which means that we are now allowed to visit our neighbors houses. Mae was very happy and excited, barely listening as Ruby rambled on about some sort of promotion or other.
Sawyer (Did I forget to mention that he stole a toilet before leaving the warehouse?) was the first to visit a neighbor and sleep in an actual bed.
I was the next one to do so. It was the most comfortable and wonderful experience I could remember having.... ever! Although they threatened to ask me to leave, they didn't actually kick me out.
Although things were different when I tried to take a hot bath. Those people kicked me out in my nightie!
Back at home:
Sawyer: "I'm telling you, Jill, that bed was SO comfortable that I didn't care if you needed to be an eyeless clown to appreciate the decor of the room!"
Tina: "Mae, since you are bookworm, you would have really been impressed by the awesome bookshelves they had in that house!"
The first thing the next morning, Jo began planting the garden she had been waiting so long to plant. Soon, everyone hoped, there would be plenty of food for all and midnight farming would no longer be necessary. Of course this also meant that Jo would be earning the gardening skills necessary to be able to sell vegetables someday and contribute to family's funds, so that they may get off the streets and into a proper home in the future.
Well folks, that's all she wrote for now! There will be another segment as soon as I've played some more take the necessary screenshots.
Thanks everyone for your comments so far. I'm glad you enjoyed the last segment! I hope you enjoy this one as well. ;D
Jill... nope! That does not mean a fun object will be added. These are homeless people. They're not suppsed to be that much fun anyway.
