A livable but large castle

I'm bad, I've started my royal Kingdom hood again. I loved the castle apart from the fact I had to put a dungeon on, decorate away the modern things and the livable levels went too high. I've downloaded a few from MTS, but don't have high hopes. Most are either way to big as in livable rooms up at 4 and 5th story level. Or they are too basic.
It was very difficult to find that original one.

It needs to be grand with plenty of rooms because it is for the King and Queen. But not ridiculously huge or so far from the road that the kids take an hour to walk to the school bus.

You can use mine if you want. The link is here somewhere for Sealgaire castle. There's 3 playable levels including a dungeon (which is on the top floor - it was an after thought!) and towers that go 5 levels. It's a beach lot, too. I'll look and see if I can find the link here.

A dungeon on the top floor? Well I'll add it to the ones that I have already downloaded Jilly It may not be quite large or grand enough to what I have in mind for the King or Queen, but should be good for other royal family.

Crissy built some castles a while back, but I'm not sure if they're what you're looking for. I'll have to open my game and have a look at them.

It doesn't have to have a dungeon, a servants wing/house/quarters would be ok.
The original had a curved stone bridge to the road, a throne room, library, skilling rooms, a large formal dinning, a ballroom, 5 bedrooms and numerous bathrooms. It had that wow factor I guess.

Well, I found Crissy's and saw that it is definitely NOT what you want. Although it's really cool-looking, and it isn't far from the road, the walk to the school bus would still be a LONG one becasue it sits on top of a HUGE hill with many stairs going down to road level...lol. She even put a mote around it.

I think I had another castle she built, but I haven't found it. She's probably built more since then, but she's away at school again, so I can't ask her.

Yes so far none that I have downloaded have quite been the ticket, I sure wish I was that kind of builder.

Those ones up on a hill look great, I had one. But they make the lot jump around and yes are too far for the bus.
So far I had one which had way too many chunky arch collums so you couldn't see and too many small rooms.
Another filled the enormous lot, I want some garden to walk in.
The third had a stupid lay out, the bathroom of the upper bedroom was across the castle. Also filled the lot.

I know- I'm picky!

Well, I like the one I am using for Lynda and George in my CtoF neighborhood.
You would have to do minor adjustments, but I like it. There are only 3 playable levels, so it's good, and not too far away from the road.

I had to add stairs from the bottom level to the courtyard, and add some doors and walls where I wanted, change out the modern looking windows, but I REALLY like it.
It is pretty flexible castle and minor fixes are pretty easy I think.

Here's a picture of it in MY neighborhood.

You can see the stairs I added coming from the bottom level to the courtyard. I also added the Lake and such.

I'm not sure if it is GRAND enough for you, but if you like the Shell of it I can pretty it up for you...Ms Picky ;D

That's ok Holley, one of the TSR castles seems ok. Well after I flatened the block it is. I'm still going to alter somethings. I'm trying to put a stable on one side.

Maybe we should have a thread for "Usable castles"

Hey, you could set up a challenge for folks to build a 'livable castle'. Someone would build a suitable one, I'm sure!

I might upload this one when I am finished for all the work I'm putting into it. But a challenge sounds good. What would they win, a pic for their siggy?

Well sure... just like always. I like coming up with ideas for 'plaques' for the winners of challeges.

If you do a challenge, one of the rules should be to put a copy of it in your game and play it a few sim days to test out it's playability before submitting it.

Also, I think, it should have dungeon as all castles are apt to do.

I think it would be really cool to see what sort of castles some folks around here could come up with. ;D
