Ok, I've been noticing lately that I'm starting to get severely depressed. I have swings of hyperness to *slash my wrists emo* depressed. And also I go into these spells where I do absolutely nothing until I work really hard for my brain to wake up and let me move again. Is that just from being a teen? I can get very frustrated at people, but I've only lashed out once or twice, maybe three times. I am also starting to twitch sometimes? Where is this coming from? I've never been mentally ill, I get almost straight A's and I'm in the gifted program. Can somebody tell me if I'm alright? It's starting to scare me.

Being a Teen SUCKS Sawyer! All this doesn't matter later honey. Teenagers are mean and cruel and not what life is about!

My first thoughts are yes being a teen is hard, but some of that sounds a bit extream. Have you talked to your parents about this Sawyer? Or if you don't want to do that, the school councilor?

Sawyer, being a teen is rough because of all the changes your body is going through. But... what is happening to you seems to be something that should be discussed with your doctor. Tell your parents what is happening and get them to take you to a doctor. There may be something they can give you to stop those extreme feelings from happening.
As far as what is extreme goes, getting urges to cut yourself and twitching is something that shouldn't be happening.

By extream I meant as Tina said urges to cut yourself or those twitches.

Oh the "slash my wrist emo" was just a saying. I don't really want to cut myself, but I am extremely depressed enough to not get out of bed until 2pm. The twitches don't happen very often, and they only have to do with my skin. I'll talk to my doctor online in a little while (maybe procrastination is a symptom too!)

Depression happens to a lot of teens. Sometimes it's just a temporary thing - hormone imbalance stuff that meds can help even out. Sometimes things don't show up until you've hit a certain age. I'd definitley see a professional - don't let the scary stories about being on meds scare you. When you have a smart doctor who takes enough time to research and put you on the right med, it can change your whole life, just to feel normal for a change. In between can be a real nice place to be, when you spend a lot of time way revved up or way down.

OK I'm late but let Dr. Pixx tell you what the problem is.
How old are you? Your problem is you're a straight A student, you need to loosen up. You're going through a stage, if you're younger than I am--good--that way I can play big sis and tell you what's up.
Depression is completely normal, dang, just this morning I nearly didn't get out of bed, and now that I think about it the weirdest things get me depressed (like if I'm talking and one of my friends gets distracted by something...I get mad then I get sad then when the depression is gone I laugh my head off <moodswings>) but I'm a girl I think I can blame PMS for that.
Go kick it at the mall with your friends and if somebody makes you mad feel free to lash out they'll forgive you in an hour or so (maybe ;D ). Dude, you're completely normal, there's nothing to worry about. And those working spells...yeah...The other day I cleaned my entire room and the house and nearly cleaned my cousin's car too.
If you were a chick everyone would have jumped straight to PMS, thank goodness for guys so I could let my genius be heard....*I'm low on sugar...mmm cookies*

@pixx! I was thinking PMS when I read it, but I knew that couldn't be it! Hehehe... Jill, you aren't the only one... I definitely have issues too!

Ohmigosh, Dr. Pixx, you saved the day! lol, I'm thirteen! Yeah, I'm one of the youngest here...so...yeah. I have loosened up a lot this year (I came out to like my entire school, including the guy I liked {resulted in me losing sleep for like 3 weeks}) In the process of that, I have created a new problem, ahem....my parents. Yeah, they don't know that I'm bisexual. Maybe this is what it is all about, it surely isn't about not getting enough relaxation (sleep till noon). Pixx, you're a teen, what should I do to tell them? (Mainly my mom)

That in itself would cause stress related probs & mood swings, my middle son was like that as a teen but I found out why, he was swiping his step-moms contraceptive pills, as he wants to be a girl!(or more like this screwed up notion that I would love him more, as I always wanted a girl! I have three lovely boys or should I say men!) but in general mood swings & Teen years go hand in hand! I really can not recommend my sons approach at telling me! as he just fronted up as a woman,*cough ugly! cough* I already knew, a mother (if they are close!) knows these things! Seeing a doctor is a good idea
