Hi all. I've been hearing a lot about the Mega Hood, and I think I'd like to download it. I wanted to hear from folks I know who have done it, and if it slowed down their game, or any other possible problems they may have encountered. Any help?

It didn't slow my game but it's true that I put in a folder elsewhere all the original hoods. All I can say is that hood is worth it! It's really fun and if you have appartment life you can download the uber mega super hood or whatever it's called. It's with belladonna cove

I don't want to lose my current Bella Donna hood, since that's where my current story is. So you think if I just did the regular Mega it would leave by Bella Donna OK?

Jill, you could get the one with Bella Donna Cove and it wouldn't mess up your current Bella Donna, just like the hood won't mess up any of your other current hoods. The extra hoods are all added in as sub-hoods to make them all into one big hood.
I haven't downloaded an installed the mega hood yet, so I have no knowledge or experiences to share with you about it.

So I still wouldn't have the Goths be able to live next door to the Summerdreams - the hoods are still separate where you play one at a time? Also, I finally found the link: www.modthesims2.com/download.php?t=301194The description sounds like you can have the playables from each hood together, but the set up looks like that's not possible.

Jilly... a sub hood is like Bluewater Village and Downtown so.. YES, you would have EVERYONE playable together! That is the WHOLE purpose of a 'mega' or combined hood. Everything is in there already. If you follow the instructions carefully, you should have no problems with the installation.

Jill the megasuper neighborhood don't mess with your current hoods. So if you take the one with Belladonna cove you'll still be able to keep your original hood intact. It is as if you created a new neighborhood (independant of all the otehrs you have ) All the characters are there even the real Bella Goth (still married to Mortimer but if you want her you have to make her move in with her family or anybody else). I got A girl from Strangetown married to John Mole and things like that. The way it works is you have your main hood (Pleasantview) and then you have the business districts (with all the other neighborhoods : Strangetown, Belladonna cove, riverblossom, veronaville, bluewater, and the other one I can't remember right now) The only thing you can't do is add a district business because it might crash. I downloaded both hoods (but now I only play with the newest one) and I have no problems at all. I took off the other hoods because I wasn't playing with them at all thats all. I don't know if I answered your question but if I didn't just let me know and I'll try to be more precise

Neighborhoods never show up in my game...well the custom ones at least Maybe it's because they are made with expansions you don't have or something. Either that, or you are not installing them correctly. If a hood is installed correctly, it should show up fine, unless you're missing something the hood needs to work.

I'm sorry I'm not getting it. What I don't understand is, if I have to leave Mega Strangetown to enter Mega Veronaville, where to the sims from those two towns meet? When I first heard about it, I thought it was just one big hood, so I could move the houses to put a Strangetown house next to a Veronaville house. WHen I saw the screenshots that show you have to leave one hood to enter another, it seems that's not possible.

jilly you have to leave one hood to go to the other one. Example you are playing the goths in pleasantview. But you get bored and want to play the Grunts in Strangetown. You have to go to Strangetown (same way you'd leave Pleasantview to go downtown).
As for the sims to meet they can meet anywhere. Example the other day I was playing in Belladonna Cove a new family. And when it said some visitors have come to welcome you there was people from Strangetown and Veronaville. You can also meet them downtown or various shops. They also walk in front of your house sometimes.

Now I get it! Thanks for spelling it out for the slow kid! I love being able to ask questions here - some other places make you feel like an idiot for asking too many questions - They always assume you haven't read the info, and don't think that maybe it just wasn't clear to you. Thanks for being so great, everyone! Now, would you still have the same problems moving a family from one Mega hood to another - still a Very Bad Thing, right? It sounds really cool, now that I get it. I wonder if I should get rid of some of the hoods I never play in before I take the Mega plunge - just to clear some disc space. Also - if I have a Grunt family in regular Strangetown, will I have another Grunt family in Mega Strangetown?

Jilly...you really ARE a slow kid, aren't ya? If you put the mega hood into your game, the mega hood is separate from Pleasantview, Veronaville, Strangetown, etc. (your originals) So YES you will still have a Grunt family in your regular Strangetown. Those hoods that are in the megahood have NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with your other hoods! You have OFB and Nightlife, right? Okay, well... the added hoods in the megahood act JUST LIKE Bluewater and Downtown! It is OKAY to move sims from Pleasantview to Downtown or Bluewater because Downtown and Bluewater are SUB hoods to Pleasantview. In the megahood, ALL the attached hoods ARE SUBHOODS to Pleasantview, therefore, it IS FINE to move sims between all those hoods. It is ONE BIG HOOD because it is made up of one MAIN hood and LOTS of sub hoods. There is one other thing, though. The hood is very big and since you are playing on a laptop, it just may slow you down quite a bit. The only thing to do is to give it try and see what happens. If you find it's too much for your computer, you can always get rid of it.

don't worry about asking lots of questions I'm glad I could help. And like Tina said it is perfectly safe to change your sims from one hood to another because it is subhoods. They are all hidden in the business icon so no probs as long as you don't add a business district. Hope you'll enjoy your new neighbourhood
