Why, why,why! I go to bed and my computer is fine go to turn it on this morning and it'd dead, as in not a cracker dead! DH thinks it's the button used to turn it on. So here I am not all that well, him going away for a day tomorow, near Christmas and my computer is dead.  Whose going to fix it now!! So much for getting down to chapter 10B I might not have a computer for ages.  and no simmies. |

Uh oh... that doesn't sound good at all Jo. That blows. Harley says to check your electrical cords to make sure they are plugged in properly to wall and to the computer if you haven't done so yet. There's also an on/off switch near where the cord plugs into the back of the computer. Make sure that hasn't gotten switched off somehow. Maybe your cat got back there and did something.

Dh wants his lap top now. He has his accounting stuff on this one-of course!! I will try his other laptop, but none of my sites are saved into that one so I will have to find them and hope I remember my passwords. Yer,yer, nothing can be easy can it, not even this. |

Well I am on dh other lap top, he's hooked that up to my moniter. At least I found the board-Thank you Jilly for that bbs signiture link!  Otherwise I don't think I would have found it. Five goes and I finally got my username/password right. |

Yea... at least you made it here!  Darn that sucks about your computer! I'm with Pixx.. I don't want to wait forever either, although I know how it is since I was having my own puter problems not so very long ago. |

I have to really, really hope it's only the button to turn it on and that someone will see to it straight away. If it's my actual computer that's fried....well we can say goodbye Mobacys and OWBC Kaboom once again. I lost everything a year and a half ago too. Very depressing. |

Well Jo... as long as the hard drive didn't go bad, you can still get your stuff. It can be hooked up to any other computer at least long enough to recover your files. This is why it is a GREAT idea to have some sort of external hard drive to save your files on. I have one, although I likely don't back it up often enough. I do have a fairly recent copy of my hoods on it, but not since writing the last two chapter of my story. I should get busy and do an updated backup soon.

Well lets hope not this computer isn't even two years old! Joe...You can test your Bad Power Theory pretty easy.... First make sure the green power light on the back of your power supply is lit..If its out than you lost your power supply.(test the plug in wall then and verify it has power) To test: You need to take the side off your computer... Find the two wires commong from the front header(power on/off) button...Follow those two back to the motherboard..... Identify where they are connected(usually at the very bottom) and take note of the two colors and which way they go...They must go back the same way as to suit polarity.....Make sure the pin is pushed in tight...... If it is not.push it and hit the power button again....If it still will not start..... Pull the pin plug off the motherboard......Using a screwdriver touch the two pins where the plug connector was for a brief second(as long as you hold the power button on for) That will start your computer if the power button has gone bad....... Let me know your results please.......Don't be scared to do this...if it works leave it on till hubby returns and you can get a new power button...Its very safe and easy to do.... |

Well my hubby has already taken it in to a shop Harley. Plus he says we can't remove sides or back as it has these special warranty stickers to prevent that, if you break them it voids the warranty. But theres no way I would touch it Harley, lol I'm a girl that doesn't even change oil in a car. Talking of girls my name is Jo short for Joanne lol, not Joe which is male and short for Joseph. |
