Okay, I have just come home from seeing the movie although I have NEVER read the book yet. My opinion? Eh.... *shrug* I could take it or leave it...lol. First, Edward is NOT as hot as I've heard the book make him out to be. I think they could have gotten a better actor to play him. I mean in certain scenes he was smexy as hell, but in others he was just downright odd looking. Also he looked a FAR CRY from just being seventeen. He and the actress who played Bella did not match up very well in my opinion. The scene where they were swinging around in the trees in such a way that would put Tarzan to shame was totally cheesy and ridiculous to me. Of course my daughter, who just read the book, said that wasn't in the book at all. Dont know why they thought it should be in the movie. If I were Stephanie Meyer, I would sue...LOL There was not enough vampire action in it to suit me either. You can't even convince me that Edward has a set of fangs! lol It could have at least shown him flash them at me once or twice. The Cullens: I think Edward's father was hotter than him. *wiggles eyebrows* A vampire doctor... how cool is that? lol The family sort of reminded me of my Duvalls in a round about way, which is really funny considering I've never heard the story until tonight. At least they reminded me of the Duvalls in the fact that they only turn people to help them (except for renegade Louis of course). Anyway, all in all, it was an okay movie. I'd never pay money to see it a second time though and I still AM going to read my book someday. I think the movie should have shown a better fight between the good vamps and the bad ones. Too much mushy crap, which wasn't even GOOD mushy crap, and not enough vamp action is my bottom line.

If you want to see the movie, definitely wait for the dvd. It'll save you a few bucks and make it more worth it.

Well, it wasn't in the book and I agree with what you said about the actors, it would have been WAY better if they'd put me in it. I also agree with the vampire action, they totally cut the parts where um...Alice's dude wanted to eat Bella and the part where they just jumped in front of her when the other three came...een nope! Their eyes never changed color either and Emmet (sp?) smiled way too much. There were NO fangs!!! Oh hell yeah! Carlisle was so frickin' mmmm!
Well hell Tina, I didn't even pay to see it the first time. I mean, it's the first time I've seen them get a movie so close to the book but it's also the first time I saw them cut the signature parts, wtf is up with that? The girl who played Bella looked too soft, like 'save me', Bella in my opinion was more of a 'leave me the hell alone, whatever, you're stupid' kinda person.
Alice...the actress was short and had the hair and everything, except she was too emo and Alice is more of the girly, Alice in Wonderland type. The actress who played Rose couldn't act, it was as if she were in shock that she was in a movie. I already complained that Emmet smiled too much. Jasper...he could pass but Jasper is also a renegade type vamp who's battle worn. Dude who played him looked like a kid.
HOWEVER! Taylor is hot!!! I hope they don't mess up the second part by not showing enough of him.

Not! I didn't think the first movie was all that great so I never bothered to watch anymore. *shrugs* I guess I'm just not a Harry Potter fan.

Ha ha Tina I've watched all the Harry Potter movies, but I haven't read any of the books. I tried once awhile ago and just didn't like it. Not my style at all. And yea, all I've heard from the Twilight movie is it's no good. And I've seen a few vamp movies/tv shows and it has a lot to live up to. Speaking of which, have you read the book Bloodsucking Fiends by Chris Moore? I think it's my favorite vampire book. Or the show True Blood. It is amazing. AMAZING. Seriously, if you like vampires, watch that show. It's written by the guy who wrote Six Feet Under, and it's about vampires, so it's visceral and gritty and sexual. Uh yea, that's MY review....*blush*

True Blood: Hmm I think Jilly told me she watches that. Isn't it on Showtime or something? Bummer because I don't have that. I love nothing better than a sexy vamp! I'll definitely have to check out Bloodsucking Fiends though. Sounds like my kind of book! Thanks for the tip! Hmm, is True Blood out on DVD? If so, I may have to ask for it for my birthday. ;D

It is out on DVD! Or you could download a torrent, that's how we got it (but we'll buy it too that's how much I love it And Bloodsucking Fiends is great. It's uh...funny, clever, and not your traditional vampire story, but it is at the same time. It's good. lol
