Christmas Countdown 2013

What have you done? Need to get done? What gifts did you buy?

We downsized this year so the kids have one main gift each and a few smaller ones.

DS: We bought him a Mario slot car set as his main gift
With an R2D2 soft toy that talks, a Mario Kenex car that gets put together, a small Star Wars lego set and some sweets.

DD: We bought her the Salvanian Family Restaurant for her main gift. With a domino run thing, 2 different crafts, and some sweets.

We got more shared gifts this year.

2 DVD's
An Edit Blyton Mystery book series.

I 'got' dh The Raven PC game. I'd watched Jessa do a lets play and really liked it. It was a download so I didn't technically go buy it lol. If you haven't seen it it's on sale on Good Old Games now and it's only $16! A really good murder mystery with good graphics and music, a real bargain.
I assume I will be getting TS3 Into the Future, going by what DH normally buys. If I had asked I think I would have asked for that TS3 shop roller coaster.

I still have to wrap the chocolates with dd and one of ds toys, the R2D2 arrived yesterday. Otherwise wrapping is done. I got my Christmas grocery list done this morning and dh is out getting that. I seem more organized this year which is good! I am going to do a traditional roast turkey and roast vegetables, with a side of potato bake and my usual summer rice salad. I might not have done the salad as the rest is hot, but BIL is a vegetarian so I need to have something for him with a few other cold things like pineapple as dd loves that. The rice salad will be nice later with the cold ham and turkey. Christmas day is looking to be a hot 35C, so with all this roasting my air con will be on day.

Edit for clarity on those PC games, lol it sounded like I was saying Into the Future was only $16! Fat chance!

Christmas isn't really a holiday that I celebrate, but I'm trying to get ready for the New Year. I like to start off the new year better than the old one, so that means that between now and then, I will be cleaning up and cleaning out and attempting to take better care of myself and my home. I need to look up the time that the fireworks are happening so I can invite my downstairs neighbors up to watch. (I I have a deck with an excellent view of the fireworks, probably the only house in the whole neighborhood that has a good view, and it seems selfish not to share.)

I always forget that your family is Jewish Esme- or that's what I am assuming since you celebrate Hanukkah. I've heard of people celebrating both. I like cleaning at this time of the year to have the place cleaner for the new year. I can't say clean as I still have so much stuff to sort through. After Christmas I plan to start on our bedroom. So.Many.Old.Clothes. -_-

Jo, it sounds like you're all ready, and those are some great presents. It still sounds so odd to me that it's so hot where you are!

It's looking to be about 10c here tomorrow, so it'll be rosemary sausages for us vegetarians and turkey and trimmings for the meat eaters. As long as I get my sage and onion stuffing I'm happy. I'm at my boyfriend's parents' house, so there's...8 of us including the grandparents for Christmas dinner. Then it's a party in the evening with the rest of the family!

We're still wrapping the last few presents as I worked yesterday and we travelled up here straight from work. Looking forward to seeing what I've got, as I've already opened a Nintendo DS!!

I cooked my rice for the summer rice salad-yep it's summer! Cooked my potato bake so tomorrow all I have to do is roast a turkey and vegetables, make the rice salad, the stuffing and the gravy... So glad we have boxing day! It's 10.30 Christmas Eve over here now, so we'll be off to bed soon. The kids were really excited of course, although Sarah decided they should go to bed early "So Christmas is here sooner" smart girl.

I got all my presents and stuff. I got my little nephew a Jake and the Neverland Pirates dvd and book, my other nephew a game for the xbox360, my niece a game for the xbox360. Gift cards for my dad, mom, sister, brother and his wife. Got my babies (Jade, Sky, Sparky, Juliet, Romero, and Sunshine) toys. My grandmother a simon says game because her's doesn't work anymore.

Well I've got everything cooked, just waiting on the roast vegies. DH was a big help, chopping onions and making the gravy. He's just checking the vegies again so we should have lunch soon.
