GoS Site Unavailable

I wasn't sure where to put this Jo, so feel free to move it if there's somewhere it fits better.

GoS is (as you probably know) down at the moment, and after seeing tens of SimSecret posts from people who don't use Tumblr, I realised people probably didn't know what was wrong with GoS, so I thought I'd post it here. They posted this to their Tumblr the other day:

"I just received an email from Liegen explaining the current situation in regards to the GoS downtime.

- There was a copyright infringement claim against the server, claiming we were seeding illegal movie torrents. During that time Liegen has been hit with over $1000 dollars worth of fines for going over the server limit because apparently this thing was sending out over 3 terabytes of data.

- She is in talks with the hosting company because, obviously we weren't seeding movie torrents, and there is no way she can pay the fine to put the site back up.

- She still has the rights to the domain name, so in theory it could be put up on a new server if Pescado has a back up of the site.

So that's as it stands. It's not great news, but there is a smidgen of hope there."

So yeah, that's why GoS is down. Not so great news.

Yes I heard, it's been talked about over on MTS and Moonlight Dragon. I'm wondering if it's T$R, although it could be any one. I hope they don't have to find $1000 for something they didn't do.

Secret Posters on SS obviously don't know how to use Google. Way to go them on making obnoxious secrets before trying to find out the real reason.

I started scrolling through the Secrets this week then pulled the exact face on that smiley. They could have asked someone first.

A lot of people on Tumblr suggested it might be T$R, hopefully it's fixable, typically I wanted to download loads of stuff from GoS this week!

No idea on that one. Simcave has been down as has Hole Simoly off and on.

On a rather bizarre note, T$R is now free...

Also, GoS is almost back. It looks like it's in maintenance mode at the moment, but hopefully it'll be back soon! ;D

It is?! (GOS that is) No, it's still under construction, been like that for at least a week. Let's hope they get it back up soon.

Yeah TSR are free, but I wouldn't trust them with a barge pole.

The mods are starting to post zombie-themed pictures on Tumblr, so I have a feeling it could be back on Halloween, tomorrow.

*edit* Haha, and the news bar on the 'under maintenance' site reads "Counting down to All Hallows' Eve"; I'll be disappointed if they're not back tomorrow, now!

As far as I can see, they've got 'Reticulating Splines', 'Please Stand By While We Clear The Debris', the Halloween one, and the link to Tumblr. I had to refresh it a couple of times to get the reticulating splines one.

GoS is baaaack! ;D Everyone is trying to log on at the same time at the moment though, it took me 5 tries to get online, but it's there. And they already have A monthly theme!

However, they have had to reboot from an old back-up, so they've lost 6 months of posts! I've just re-posted my cc for the themes I contributed to.
