Max (the young cat) killed my daughter's tame mouse. I can't say it wasn’t her fault as she left it in the living room and went outside to play. But I blame myself some too, if I had been more on the ball I should have checked-kids just don't think about what they are doing. I really liked little Nibbles.

Aw no, what a shame! It's always difficult having pets who naturally wouldn't get along, you've got so much balancing to do and got to keep an eye on everything, not your fault at all and just unfortunate. *hugs*

Thanks guys. I'm still upset about it. It wasn't a pleasant find with what the cat had done to it. Guess I was more attached to that mouse than I realized. We are trying to tame the other one, but it isn't easy as she is so shy and skittish, the other was naturally friendly.

I'm sorry Jo! Everytime any pet dies it's really sad. But you have to remember the cat didn't know that Nibbles was part of the family too.

Thanks Sarie, we bought a new grey mouse who seems quite friendly-hope this one survives. We have three cats, but Max is the hunter among the three of them, constantly bringing lizards on my door mat. *yuck* He would get the pet bird and fish if he could.

Lol Ashley, our place is a menagerie of critters. Our bird is a Quarrion (Cockatiel) named Jessie. Instead of a guard dog we have a guard bird, she squawks her head off if anyone comes up the path. We will be getting another bird in a few weeks. Long story made short, a lost tame Quarrion found us due to Jessie’s squawking and turned out it belonged to people we know. So we had to give it back, but because these people breed Quarrion, we are getting one of her chicks. She and her mate just hatched out 5 eggs.

Aw, Jo. I hope Sarah doesn't feel too sad. In the very least, this ordeal taught her an important lesson. I hope things go well with the new mouse!

That's so sad - and poor Max not understanding why everyone is upset with him when in his mind, he did a wonderful thing! It's definitely hard to have predators and prey in the same house, and you've got just about every natural food source for a cat! Lol! Sorry abou your loss - sometimes those critters just sneak their way into your heart when you're not looking!
The new mouse sounds like just what the doctor ordered! I hope he's as friendly as Nibbles!
