EA, You Scammers!

So, this popped up on my Facebook Newsfeed today:


And yes, that is what you think it is. It's magic.

But no, there is not a new EP coming out. It's a stupid store item that costs 5USD (a spellbook, which comes with the magic skill). Which is ridiculous. But aside the insane pricing, this means that there won't be a "Makin' Magic" EP for The Sims 3. Well, that's what it means coming from my intellect. EA, in a haste to make money (how shocking), has given it's fans what they have been crying for: Magic! This means that they don't have to make that EP and they can make a million or two without much effort.

And, to top it off...they've made it almost completely impossible for use in your legacies. How? The spellbook costs a grand total of 72,000 Simoleans.

As a footnote, I wrote this all at two o'clock in the morning without having slept more than four hours the night before. Gotta love Paranormal Activity marathon parties. o.o

You could be right Sawyer. EA must think there isn't enough it can get together for an EP. Although that puzzles me as it's the one thing I've seen people talk about wanting since it first came out. One wonders if EA notice what customers want at all.

Then again if they do know how much people want a magic EP, this could be a taste they are putting out. I wouldn't put it past them to put this out and then to later put out an EP including this very same spell book. Because then people who want the rest will buy it as well. Because the EP would include some very cool item such as flyable broomsticks that they know people will want. The spell book would probably be advertised as "With the EA store spell book free!" Of course it wouldn't be free, but sneakily getting people to buy the same spell book twice sounds totally like EA.

I was reading through some of the comments on that picture that I posted and it turns out that the whole glowy-energy-spell-effect is actually something that somebody photoshopped. -_- You don't get the effect with the spellbook.

You're kidding? Well that sucks lemons. Typical EA fail. So who photoshoped it? EA or just someone for fun?

It doesn't look too different than the burst shown on those facebook pics - at least to me.

I thought that, too. They'll see how this item sells, and base the possibility of an EP on that. They did release Barnacle Bay and the corresponding Buccaneer Bounty set thru the store, then later released it all togeher as a mini EP in stores. (packaged with an extra staircase)

The burst from the Facebook pics is something that someone just edited for fun.

Here's what I'd need for a Magic EP to make it complete for me:
more spells, sub-hood for magicians only, new creature, new neighborhood would be nice (along with the sub-hood), more new objects than a library set, cauldron (like the one from AL), kid-magic-objects (like the toy oven, but with magic).

That, plus a little bit of the old EA magic would have me hooked.

That Magictown was the most awesome place. I sure wish they'd do that again. Hopefully they'll see the positive response to bringing back magic & do a full EP for it!
