This is what I just posted to my LJ
My computer has been running rather slowly for awhile now, frequently things like my documents go unresponsive. I’ve run a full virus scan and also done a defrag with file optimization but nothing has changed.
I just did a couple of pages to my update, went to save it and the window popped open to name the file. I thought that’s strange, the file is already named, but hit save anyway. It thinks and tells me it can’t be saved and suddenly I’m facing a blue screen and it’s done a data dump. This is the second one in a month. Luckily my update is still there sans the last two pages, so that is quite a relief as it is rather more text heavy then normal and I don’t know that I could remember it all. The pictures are still over in the Fraps Screenshots folder.
So anyway my husband has gone to get me another portable hard drive and I am going to try and save everything and get my computer reformatted and cleaned out. Hopefully all my sims stuff will be safe and this is all it needs. If it’s my motherboard going then I guess I will be fried for sometime as I can’t afford a new computer right now. Once it goes to the shop I’ll come online on dh’s computer and maybe install the base game or something on it. So from being off hiatus (Although I may not have said I was) I am now back on hiatus until we can get this computer running properly again or if worse comes to the worst until we can afford a new gaming computer.

So I'll still be around, but goodness knows how long my story hiatus might be or even if I'll be able to play sims. I guess dh computer will run it, but it's not the same as playing established families.
Edit: I've run the malware scan on PC tools and it's sent of a report, so I'll see what they have to say. Lark on LJ thinks it might be malware and has given me a link to what saved her computer. I'm saving my sims 2 over to the new portable now before I check that link out. It says 2 hours for the whole sims 2 folder to be saved!
Now I'm running another malware programme that was recomended to me. I'm doing a full scan and it's still running 4 hours and 22 minutes later! It has found one!
