Rude strangers: How do you deal?

You know, sometimes I cannot get over the boldness/rudeness of people in this world today!

Yesterday I was outside the pharmacy with my mom, sitting on a bench, waiting for a prescription to be refilled when two older 'gentlemen' headed to the parking lot and began having a conversation right beside my brand new 2011 Ford Escape. Of course I was keeping an eye on them being so close to my vehicle.

One of the old codgers began to lean on the driver's side, draping one arm across the driver's side window! Now, I would NEVER even think of leaning on someone else's car, whether it be friend or stranger, new or old, or... whatever. Oh man, I wanted to rush over and ask the old dude WTF did he think he was doing leaning on a stranger's car in a parking lot as if he owned it, but instead I walked over and said "Excuse me", while pretending to need to get something out of the car.

The guy didn't move far away or even say he was sorry... I got nothing! I was in total shock over the incident and didn't let my car out of my sight until the old guys went away.

So, what would have done in a similar situation? Has anything like that ever happened to you? Can you believe the nerve of some folks to be so bold as to disrepect the property of others in such a manner?

wow, I never did that or even see that happen before. I would done the same thing too.

Well knowing me, I would have grumbled to myself about it and hoped they would leave! But what you did was a good idea.

Not only are bad manners the norm these days, but they don't even realize it is bad manners!

I would probably walk up to them and ask the guy to get his paws off my property.

I would've pulled the same "I need to get into my car" routine. Like Jo said, things have deteriorated so much in society, I'm not sure people even remember good manners. What nerve!
