Well I can't play sims 3 now, the game looks like mud, but worst of all after sending a couple of sims out to places I can't get back into the house. it looks like a neighbour's house, but I know they are in there, but invisible. I can call them out of the house and they are visible then.
I did a defrag last night so I really hope it wasn't from that. I had it set to shut down when it finished and when I turned it on this morning I had this "Windows experienced an unexpected shut down" So I don't even think my defrag finished.

That sounds really bad, Jo. You may have to scrub your PC - I think you have bigger issues than a defrag can fix. If you have a back up, it might be time to uninstall everything and start fresh. PC Tools isn't finding anything wrong? Do you have a registry repair in there?

Registry repair, I've heard of it, but don't know what that is, how do I do that? I'm going to try another defrag tonight. PC tools says it's clean. I was saying to dh maybe we should save everything to an external hard drive and get reformated.

I agree with Jill. It actually is GOOD for a computer to be wiped out and restarted every now and then. As long as you back up your files and folders, you have nothing to lose by doing so and possibly everything to gain. Like a computer that runs like new again. There is no way that doing a defrag messed up your computer. If you are having those serious troubles a lot, then something else is going on there.

We're discussing what to do, and we may get it done at the shop. I think I'll have to get another portable hardrive to be able to save everything. If we could afford it we would get a new computer and get this clean and give it to my daughter, but I think a clean and a better graphics card might have to do.
That smart defrag has gone and put some things on my computer when dh clicked update. A malware fighter, game booster and a couple of other things including a tool bar. I don't need those do I? I uninstalled the other two things already. I did the optimise file defrag, which took two days! I think because my monitor went to sleep over night. Nothing seems better or worse though.

Is it only your S3 game that is affected? It sounds like a needed file got removed somehow. If it's only S3, a video card issue might be all it is, but if windows is shutting down on it's own, especially during a defrag, that sounds like a bigger isue.

I posted about my computer issues up in the coffee house, it's a far bigger problem. The computer guy is coming in a few hours so I hope to get some answers.
