In TS3, one of my sims randomly froze. They were at the Brightmore in Bridgeport. I wasn't paying attention to him, and when I went back to check on him, he was just standing there. He wasn't breathing or doing any default-random-bs-annoying-clappity-pose that they normally do without direction. And then I noticed his picture was blank. There's just a blank green square where his portrait should be! D: I can't click on it. At first, I thought he was dying for old age, but he's still a couple days away from that...so I don't know. I also tried having other sims interact with him, but they can't. Reset Sim doesn't work, either.
If worst comes to worst, I'll just let his game clock run out (if it's still there...) and have him die downtown, and try and move his grave up to the house...but I don't really want to do that. It sounds like a horrible way to let the co-founder die in my legacy.
Any help would be appreciated! ;D

are you typing in the reset sim command properly? resetSim <first name> space <last name> case sensitive. So if their names start with a capital letter it has to be capitalized. sometimes i even misspell their names so just double check
Go into your edit town and make a copy of the family and save to the library then try placing them and see if that helps!

Yes, I did the cheat multiple times.
I'm not going to save my family and re-enter them into the hood. I've worked too hard on their lifetime wants to just restart now.
:/ I think I might install the latest patch and see if that fixes anything.

If you ever have a sim become frozen, or stuck, you can also try going into testing cheats mode and then you can click on the ground somewhere else and choose, 'teleport here'. I have used that and had it work when a sim was stuck.
Also, for some reason, when you use the reset sim cheat, you have to be in testing cheats mode for it to work as well.

Hmm, I might not have been in Testing Cheats mode. I'll give that shot.

I was going to recomment both of those - Testing Cheats and "teleport here". And I always have Testing cheats on, so I'm not sure if that's needed for rest to work. resetSim Cole Sawyer in the cheat window

The thing is though, I can't use "Teleport Here" because his icon isn't clickable. It's like TS2 babies. You can't click on them for anything. :\
I haven't opened my game up today. I think I might work on this tomorrow, if I get the chance.

Ah - I didn't think of that. Is there another sim in a different house that knows him? Maybe you could go to that house and try to invite him over. I know there's no summon option with the cheat code, but if you can get him to show up at the new house, you can 'make part of active family' or something like that, then once he's controllable, move him back to his own house. Also - Holly made a post in the tutorials about retreiving stuck sims on vacation - this may work for you. desirablediscourses.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tutorials&action=display&thread=3226&page=1Maybe you should try this first.

Hmm. I'll check that out.
I remember that I tried to click on his relationship icon in his wife's relationship panel and it gave me "No interactions available."
Maybe he's in the process of dying, but can't because the venue is about to close?

Possible, but I don't think so. Try Holley's thing. It's easier than it sounds, and it works on exactly this problem when a sim is on vacation. Even I did it, so that tells you it has to be easy!
