Crashing Crisis!!!

that's what I had to do when I first started playing,put my setting on low,turn reflections to low,distance low(you only really need distance and other settings higher when taking pictures!) as I had my old Video card in,but now my fixed newer card is throwing points out of strange places,and I have had some strange Sims! And dare I say crash 16 save!It's not suppose to happen any more!But my card is on its way out!

I hadn't noticed you could turn reflections to low, what about shadows? I should try turning things down on mine and seeing if that improves things.

Pixx make sure your computer doesn't need a dust out or updated drivers. I had crashing with TS3 from firstly my drivers and then my power source fan slowed right down from dust. It was just about burnt out when we found out and had to replace it.
Drivers can be updated online for free and a can of compressed air doesn’t cost much. You do have to take the side of your computer, but maybe your Mum or someone could do both.

Yes,Jo,in OPTIONS,you can turn everything down,more so, than Sims2!
~ It has saved me,with my old Video card,now I have Sims on high detail and everything else medium or low(shadows & reflections!)
~ You can put everything on high for picture taking as it does not slow down game play, as you are just taking a few pics!(And for the time it takes it is worth it!)then put them back down for game play,I fiddled with mine till I was happy! ;D

I'm going to load up and try it, thanks karima. ;D Don't know why I didn't think to check as I've turned shadows off in TS2 before.

With TS3 I notice now when I go into the house everything looks kind of grey and then appears after a couple of seconds and sometimes sims are invisible. Like my simself was playing guitar at the park but it took awhile for her to show up instead of just a floating guitar. Before I put on Ambitions things seemed to show up a lot faster and sims looked clearer in game. I asked DH and he says I have a dedicated card, but maybe I could do with more RAM or something. I've asked for Sims Medieval for Mother's day only because I hear it doesn't take much to run. No more TS3 ep's for me.

Well, crap, if you can't get your game to play, I guess you won't be needing that siggy/story cover anymore?

I'll wait to hear back from you before I start on it. Hopefully you'll get this problem iron out, Pixx. Sorry I can't be of any help on this one, but my sims 3 is uninstalled right now as well because I started having a crashing problem after trying to get some store stuff back into my game and I haven't had the time, nor the inclination to reinstall it yet. lol

Well, I uninstalled it and the resolutions are set to low, I won't be changing any of the graphic options but I have to admit, I'm completely pissed off with the stupid game.

I didn't back up my files because I figured that maybe something I did while playing the game caused the problem. But I'm gonna play around with it a while and then start a legacy (if things go well).

Well I think I solved the problem so I will be starting a legacy soon YAY ME!!!
Thanks everyone for your help. And Tina no I won't be needing that cover anymore cuz that legacy died when I forgot to back up my work before uninstalling (sometimes I amaze me!!!)
