Ambitions help!

My hubby just came through the door with Ambitions for me! Now how do I go about putting it on? Do I have to find that Mod folder and pull it? What about the store cc or other cc put in with the installer? Anything else I have to do?

I don't want to put it on and wreck my RR! So I will resist until someone can answer this.

Thanks Val. ;D I just did that. I did a copy paste of the sims 3 folder to my desktop.
Will me having Ambitions effect anything? I was going first on the RR as I was the only one to just have the base game. Now I'm thinking what if I accidently put something from this new EP in the house?

I don't think having Ambitions will affect anything.

Then back up your mods folder.
Mine is found here: Program files-Electronic Arts-The Sims 3 World Adventures-Mods

I think yours will be: Program files-Electronic Arts-The Sims 3-Mods
(If you don't have any other expansions)

Thanks, see I knew there would be something I wouldn't know to do. So maybe I'll try putting it on and see how it goes.

After installing ambitions and patching up your game I think you'll have to look for the latest versions of your mods to work with your new game version. I didn't do this because I don't have too many config mods, etc and the CC I had works fine. You'll have to ask Karima and Jill about this step.

I don't have any mods Val, just free store cc and some cc I got off some other sites.
I'll try installing it now I think. If it goes south well I can always uninstall and put my backup in.

;D OK, halt! Make sure you take your Mods folder out before installing AMB,put it safely on your desktop or were ever you store things temporarily!After you have installed AMB & patched it up to date then you can put it back, but then it goes in the WA Mods folder!(I tried mine in there, but I think because I have XP on my PC it preferred Sims3(base game!))Everyone else is installing their Mods folders in each expansion Packs Mods folder!EA suggests it also!

Ouch. Well I made a copy of my mods folder to my desktop, but I didn't take it out. Too late now I've already installed it! I haven't opened it yet as I went and registered my game and was getting those freebies, such as they are. Took forever to download that career package too. I was going to try and load up the game now. Hope it's ok....

TwinBrook seems to be working fine. Is aw the RR on the main menu so hopefully that is all ok too.

~ When you open the RR Hood you will be given some Community lots to place (in any hood that is not Twinbrooks)the "Fire Station",the "Beauty Parlor",the "Junk Yard" & "Consignment Store"!Place them if you have the space,as it gives your Sims more to do! The main thing is to have fun!So,go play! lol!

I see I got here too late! Lol! I borked my game big time by not removing my mods folder before patching, so anytime a patch or new EP/SP is added, always remove that folder.

Now, I don't know if anyone else had to do this, but AMB wants you to have your mods folder in a different place than it used to be. It's supposed to be in the "my documents/electronic arts/sims 3" file instead of the "My Computer/program files, Electronic Arts/Sims 3/Amb" file.

I found mine didn't work there in the "my documnets" location, (only SOME cc showed) AND it didn't work in the old "my computer" location, either. I found some threads on the problem and found some people had to keep a mods folder in both places to get all the cc to show, so that's what I did. That's worked fine for me.

If it's not too late, I suggest playing a hood that you won't mind losing to test everything out, as I lost my Bill & Sookie & another hood when I didn't remove my mods folder before adding to/patching my game.

No well I didn't remove it Jilly if you see one of my later posts above. I made a copy to my desktop but didn't remove it. I had already installed the new EP and patched before Karima posted.

I just put my simself in the new hood and joined the stylist field. I didn't check through all my cc, but I saw that the hair was there. I'll have to check it all tomorrow. So long as the RR is intact it will be ok. Got to get to bed now.
