I would not trust either one! I guess you will have to feel out if you trust this neighbor. I certainly don't, but then it is in my nature not to trust humans.

Well aren't we a box of contradictions growler. First you say "Certainly no man could wrestle one without serious injury." So if Blue saw what she saw, I guess he was no man. You don't trust "humans", but maybe he isn't one. I guess that means your not one either. Super strength, telepathy, shape shifters, non-humans! What an exciting, and scary world you have got yourself into Blue!

I guess you will have to feel out if you trust this neighbor. I certainly don't, but then it is in my nature not to trust humans. Not in so many words. But you implied that he was human. Which he isn't if he was wrestling with an actual deer or one of those shape shifter thingys you were talking about. Anyways, my point was that we don't know ANYTHING about her neighbor or what the heck that was he was wrestling. Your right though Growler, she needs to make up he mind who she trusts.

He sure looks human. He just SEEMS old to me. Weird, I know. It's hard to explain without you meeting him, but he couldn't possibly be much older than me from the way he looks. You know those old Kung Fu masters on TV? The old ones with all the wisdom? That's the closest thing I can compare him to - except he's young and pretty hot. It's in the way he carries himself. It's like he thinks about every word he says before he decides to say it. Very careful. He seems to know he's freaking me out, and seems to want to put me at ease. I feel like that's a good thing, not like he's trying to do it so he can catch me off guard. OK, we're all united on the creepy deer, but divided on hot neighbor. That's OK. I'm divided about him, too. I wonder if he'll come by again tonight. The only thing I know for sure is that I'll be doing my walking in the daylight from now on. It's pretty secluded here, so there really shouldn't be anyone around to see me. Lynda, did you read the first post? Everyone is taking on a character and making a little story out of this. Some are "human" (Nora, Rusty) and some are not (Growler, maybe Giggles) I didn't know if you were playing along, too, or if you didn't know what we were doing! Lol!

Good advice, that!
Now, here's something interesting. I found a note on my door this morning, asking me to come to dinner at the neighbor's place this weekend. It doesn't mention if anyone else will be there or not. It's actually addressed in calligraphy - can you believe that? Inside is this handwritten note: "Greetings, Ms.Mundie. I hope this evening finds you well. I fear it must be lonely there for you, with your friends only being able to visit occasionally. Therefore, I would like to extend an invitation for you to come by for dinner this Saturday evening at 7:00 pm. This will be an informal dinner, so please be comfortable. You needn't reply unless you would like an escort, in which case, I can have someone come by for you. I hope to enjoy the pleasure of your company this weekend. Sincerely, _______"
OK, who talks like that? And why would he "send someone" instead of coming for me himself? And what is this about, anyway? What happens if I don't come? Well, this being Wednesday, I have a few days to drive myself absolutely insane worrying about this until then, so I don't have to worry about how to spend the rest of the week! Chime in, folks! Blue needs some serious advice!
(Man, I really miss being a quiet little office worker that thought this world only existed in books and movies...)

OK, Rusty........it is only natural for you as a human to doubt, as your higher-ups/governments & so forth, like to keep you all in the dark, so you do not panic or go around killing each other, you are all doing a good job on that count all by yourselves, with out adding wars & gangs into the mix!
But, Rusty, you are all deceived & kept naive! On purpose!
Giggles!

One more day to wait. I sure hope I won't be the only guest - maybe if there's others there, we won't have to awkwardly avoid talking about everything that's been happening. I'm torn between wanting answers and maybe thinking I'm better off without them!
Speaking of secrets, Giggles - you think the government knows about all this stuff? I guess I can see where the info would cause a panic if it got out... I had a nice, quiet life before all of this. (OK, not nice, but quiet) I loved reading books about this stuff, but never in a million years did I think it was possibly real. I sure can't blame anyone who reads this blog and thinks I'm crazy or making this stuff up. Sometimes I wonder it myself.

Hi Nora, thanks for looking out for me! Well, it was quite an experience, but since I'm here talking to you, I've clearly survived it! Lol!
First, this girl shows up at my door. She makes a ton of noise - on purpose, so I wouldn't be startled I think. She knocks, and says right away, "_____ sent me to escort you to dinner."
Now, how is this woman going to protect me? Is she a ninja? A mercenary? Does he think I'm that big of a wimp that this little thing can fight better than I can? On the bright side, I was PO'd enough that I stopped being nervous and started being offended instead. I didn't let her in, but since she gave _____'s name, I figured I shouldn't take her at face value. If he's not what he seems, maybe she's not, either, right? I grabbed my jacket and bag, and we head out.
So we walk to the property fence, and climb over, heading for the farmhouse from the rear. She doesn't seem eager to talk, so I don't try. Right before we get to the door, she stops, so I do too. She says, "He's a really nice guy. I know it's hard for you to trust him, and I know you don't know me from Adam, but let me just say this. Listen to your instincts. When you really think about him, go with what you're feeling."
OK, that was weird. So I ask her "Are you and he...together?" If they've got some weird, freaky ideas about how to party, I want NO part of it.
"No. He is my employer, and my friend, but there's no interest for more on either of our parts." She gives a little smirk, and I'd swear she knew what I was thinking. I think I blushed. She saved me and said, Let's head in. Dinner should be ready."
I wanted to think about her some more, but before I could, she was gone and _________ was there. "Welcome to my home. I'm sorry I wasn't awake the last time you stopped by, so I hope I can make up for it tonight. Won't you come in?"
Well, all in all it was a very polite and pleasant evening. The girl was there, and a few more employees, plus a person he referred to as a "very old friend". Everyone else seemed to be giving off a nice, normal, friendly vibe, but the "old friend"? You guessed it. OLD. Looked just as young as my host, but felt just as old. Whatever my neighbor has going on, his friend has it, too. I learned something else, too. The girl hung on this guy's every word. She was telling the truth about not being interested in my neighbor. She was all about his buddy.
Everyone was very nice, and they all echoed my host's sentiments of helping in any way they can. I don't think they would've done so on their own - I think they wanted to do it because it would make my neighbor happy if they were nice to me.
After dinner, we chatted by the fireplace, played some cards, and around 2am, I decided I should head home. I said my good-byes, and told them all they were welcome to stop by my place anytime. I was trying to be polite, since they were trying so hard to be polite to me, but I think I overstepped on that one. Well, since I'd already blurted out the invitation, I really couldn't take it back, so there it is. I'm looking out the door into the dark, wondering if I'm going to meet Rambo-bambi on my way home, but too proud to ask for an escort.
I turn to wave, and there's my neighbor grabbing his coat. Whew! The walk back wasn't as awkward as I thought. SInce there were others around all night, all the topics of conversation were "safe" and neutral. Now that it was just the two of us, there were a lot of unspoken questions on both sides. We exchanged pleasantries until we got to the fence. He offered me a hand up, then lifted me so I was sitting on the fence. He joined me there.
"I can tell there's something different about you, just like you can tell there's something different about me. You can tell me if you'd like, or not, if you'd rather not. We don't know each other that well yet, and people with secrets tend to be, well, secretive." He laughed at himself, and I laughed, too. "All I'm trying to say is, there's no rush to trade secrets. But if you ever feel you want to, it's OK to bring it up. I just want to say out loud that you have nothing to fear from me, and I hope that if you feel you're in trouble, that you come for me. I don't feel I have anything to fear from you either, if that helps. For the record, my employees know my secrets, and they won't tell you unless they know I already have. If you think you're ready for some answers, just ask me, and I'll tell you what you want to know. Deal?"
I told him we had a deal. I completely understand about not asking questions you aren't ready to know the answers to. My mother used to say, "You can't un-ring a bell". I realized that I wasn't really ready to deal with whatever it is he's got going on, while I'm still dealing with my own problems.
He walked me the rest of the way back to my place. I asked if he wanted to come in, but he declined. (I was a little relieved, but a little bummed out. Something else for me to ponder.) He gave me a bow - a real, honest to goodness bow, and said "Sweet Dreams". and then he was gone.
The next morning, there was a note in my door. (I may need to get a mail box if this keeps up!) It was the girl, asking if I'd like to come supply shopping with her on Thursday. It would be my first trip into town. People would see me for the first time. It's been a few weeks since my picture appeared in the papers, and I doubt they made anything local - it's not like I was famous or anything. Girls disappear all the time. "How sad. Did you see the score of last night's game?" People move on. I think I may go. At least she wants to go in the daytime and doesn't do everything at night like her boss. What do you think, T-Dubs? Should I show my face in town?
