Well, they do. Yeah, in my game, I came with a book, Mae came with a book, and Jo came with a book. When I began play testing the challenge I realized that Mae could not gain charisma from talking until after she got that first point, so I changed the rules to allow the use of the book if they came with one or the mirror if not, until that first point was gained. I also thought that the gardener would gain skill points from pillaging the neighbors' gardens, but learned they can't do that either until they get the first point from planting. I would have changed the rule for that too, if it had been necessary, but I found that it doesn't create any disastrous situations by waiting, so I left that one alone.

;)Tina, I do not understand, as I have a guy in the game who is a level 8 gardener! but he does not own a garden it is all earned by harvesting,he has never read a book, he attended a class??? so maybe thats it(I'm sure he was level 3 when he went to the class!)But then again it could just be my wacky game!

Attending a class always gets that first skill point, so that would be why your guy is building gardening skills from just harvesting.

Nope. They shouldn't have the $$$ for a class. If this helps anyone, the part time jobs can be found in the Bookstore, the Grocery store, and there's 2 in the Spa. (for when you get that far.) I'm just about done!

Jill is right. No classes are allowed because homeless folks can't afford to attend classes. Also, the part time jobs can only be gotten when a sim has maxed his/her chosen skill. In my game, Jo only has one more gardening skill to go before maxing hers, but everyone else is at least two or more away from maxing theirs. Cooking is one of the hardest to max because cooking hot dogs and hamburgers at the grill doesn't go very fast..lol. I need to get myself out and make some best friends, so I can use their TV.

I played ALL day today, so I got pretty far! I have some good pics, but I'm kind of sick of looking at the screen, so I won't be uploading my spam until tomorrow.

LOL... I heard that! I can't wait to see it, but I'd just as soon wait until tomorrow to look as well.

Sue just got her fourth Logic point, but Jo can't write her novel yet because...
"NO opportunities may be accepted until all of the above have gained the amount of skills mentioned..." So fisherman, gardener, cook, handyman and thinker need their specific points before opportunities can be taken?

Yeah, and even then the writer CAN'T write until she is offered a writing opportunity. ps Don't forget that the charmer needs five charisma points as well. I chose five instead of four like the rest because that first one comes pretty quickly from the book or the mirror.

The writer can keep practicing, though, which works out well. Her skill will go up, and her novels will do better financially because of her higher skill points. That rule got me, too! Lol!

Poor Handyman Sawyer is so exhausted in my game. He ALMOST has his 4th skill point. Bills are due and Collector Holley has a motherload load of rocks to sell.

I sent Lynda to fix a broken sink and toilet at a community lot just before she had gained her first point. i knew it would be plenty enough for her to get that point. But no, it wasn't available because it said she was too tired. Yet she wasn't too tired to go argue politics with a townie. It took ages for her to get the first point! Once she could tinker that was so much easier.
