Do I have to copy and paste the entire sims 3 folder onto my desktop or would making a copy paste of the 'Saves' folder do it? I want to defrag and thought I would backup both Sims one and two first. With sims 2 I normally just copy and paste the hoods into a folder on my desktop.

Why do you want to make a backup just to defrag? Defragging is a GOOD thing and won't hurt anything in the game...lol But, to make a complete backup, doing what Jill said is the best way to go, because the 'saves' folder won't save your store stuff, etc you have installed in case something bad were to happen for any reason. Also, for anyone who has any other cc installed, you need to backup your Mods/Packages folder, etc that will have needed to be installed in the TS3 folder inside your program files.

Defraging makes me nervous. I'm so used to weird problems that I expect things to throw me spanners... somehow.

I really need to do this again - I don't even remember how old my S3 back up is!
