Sims 3 Update Glitch?

Hey, guys.
I'm having an issue with my Sims 3 game that I hope none of you are dealing with, too.

However, if you see any similarities between your game and mine, please let me know. D: We'll get through this together, ladies!

I recently updated my game to the 6.1.11.009.001 version, after installing Late Night.

I opened the game up, and noticed that the family I had been playing's thumbnail on the main menu was gone.

Well, I clicked on it and when I tried to play, it just completely bugged out. The load bar only took a second to reach 100%, compared to the usual half minute or so.

Then a little box popped up that said, "A serious error has occurred while loading "*insertsavenamehere*.sims3. It is strongly recommended that you restart your game." I restarted. Nothing changed.

I even copied the save file and made a duplicate. The duplicate had the same issue.

So, after that, I decided to just make a new town and see what happens.

Once again, the save file had an issue upon opening.

Is anybody else having this problem? If you are, please let me know if you've seen any posts or solutions for it. I've found nothing.

This happened to a household I was making for Jilly,it had a Sims3 version of Jacky Balin & his love interest,(I still have them saved in CAS!I made a copy after I made them!) I can not get into that house,it happened after patching,but I did everything right, I removed my mods folder, before patching,.......to this day, if I click on it, to load it, it throws me the same error you are getting,& no amount of restarts, or re loading a previously played game helps!
~ The houses & the Sims in that game are no longer there!That was my challenge hood, I was setting up for the DD RR challenge, I am in the process of re-doing that hood!
~ I have found no explanation for what happened,I even sent a couple of letters to EA,but I still have not had any answers!No joy on the EA Forums either??
EDIT: I have had no problems making new hoods,but that one is gone,my thumbnail for the house is like yours it has no picture anymore!

The only time I had that happen was the time I didn't remove my mods folder before patching, but I know others (Like Karima) had it happen even when they patched correctly. I have seen on some forums that if you have a lot of hoods saved that the game doesn't like that & will randomly eliminate some, but no solid numbers on how many hoods are too many.

When did the "My comments" feature start on the Sims 3 page? Is it like a guestbook type of thing now

I just saw that today for the first time - apparently, you can now leave comments on others S3 homepages, but only if you are friends.

Yes it is I got my first message,today & sent one back so it is very much like the S2 guest book! about time!(My e-mail through Google has an instant message system so even when I am in game I get notified of an e-mail,as long as my PC is on I get them,when sent!)

I don't know if I like the friend only feature or not. It's nice that no spammer can leave nasty comments, but it makes it hard to get to know new people. My stories are both posted there, so if someone new reads them & likes them, they still can't tell me.

The friend only is the sucky thing,but I guess they are trying to stop the trolls & spammers!

D: I haven't been on the Sims 3 website in ages. I find all the gurus pretty annoying, to say the least.

Update on the glitch: I started a new game and the save worked fine. But I'm still missing the ones from before.

That really sucks, Sawyer. I tooled around to see if I could find anything (thus my discovery of the new comments section) but it was all basically the 2 things we mentioned here - either the patching or too many hoods.
Sorry we couldn't help more, but I'm glad your new saves are OK.

Thanks, Jill. I think I'm going to go in and delete some of my old hoods that are unplayed. I'm like a hoarder with those things! Lol.

It's easy to do, that's for sure! I have quite a few "abondonned hoods myself. I really should clear them out so the game doesn't make those choices for me!

That is actually a good idea I have a few old ones(at least three!) I can delete,as it is heart breaking to lose a hood you love,for an old one,that was just me getting to know the new Sims 3!

Yeah, that's kind of how mine were, too. And with my new story, the characters are spread out over a few hoods, so I really should do a clean up before I overload it!
