I did before this thing went crazy. The tech guy for HP said he thinks the patch is for 32 bit, and mine is a 64! I'm not sure if the patch was the problem, but for now I'm staying away from it!

DH says to go to the Windows site, download the active X thing, (and any other updates it wants to give you). Then put in the new patch.

You don't need active x for the patch. ActiveX is just something that some web sites needs so they can 'see' your computer.
Also, Lynda, your patch problem is NOT becasue of being 64 bit either. I have 64-bit Vista and I patched just fine. You also do NOT need the first patch in order to get the second because I only got the second patch, BUT you DO need to install the first patch before the second if you want it, because once you install the second patch, it won't let you install the first one.

OK girl... What is wrong now????LOL You need to set windows to notify you, but not to install updates... That way you get to see what is installed and cancel any you don't want...

LOL... Harley, this thread is about a game update, NOT windows updates! Although, it just dawned on me that Lynda may have thought we were discussing Microsoft updates as well, because that is what she says borked her computer.

Yup, it's a new one. I put it in, so we'll see. Here's what it's supposed to fix: Latest Update for: 1.3 07/28/09 list of some of the changes: Prevented a game freeze that occurred when placing a lot while in "Cameraman Mode."
Non-player Sim autonomy now runs more quickly for Sims on screen and nearby (neighbors won't spend time standing in their front yards or not moving on community lots)
ATI video driver's "Adaptive Aantialiasing" option conflicts with ingame "Edge Smoothing." Eating specific prepared meals no longer has an impact on an unborn baby's gender.
The Sims 3 now supports more than 2000 concurrent saves
Adding support for the NVIDIA Ion.
Roofing is now visible on low end Intel video cards. Game speed no longer affects the playback of audio stings. Added support for the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250.
[glow=red,2,300]LYNDA[/glow] This may help people who can not see roofs as EA fixed it in there latest patch!

She doesn't have the roof problem anymore, Karima. That fix would't have helped her before anyway because she didn't even have a graphics card. Now, she does.
