I'm official. I have my copy of Sims 3. I wasn't sure I was going to get it, but he just came home with it today. I had to get a new Sims3 sim page, because it wouldn't let me access the one I made before I got the game. I'll now be found (only as far as Sims 3 stuff goes) at Jillyson_Twozaks_1 I know I put what I originally signed up as in here somewhere, but now, this one is it. Here is my first crack at a sim self: (I thought I took more pics, but I guess not!) And here's a hunky house mate I downloaded from the Sims3 exchange. Meet Joe. Joe and I are both going to be rock stars. Here's the link to Sims3 me, if anyone's interested: www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=44731(And yes, this means that Sims 3 Ex IS allowing uploads, as we all suspected.) It took awhile to get up and running, only because it wouldn't let me register the game under the simpage I started before. I finally gave up and just made a new page, and it went right away. I've been playing all night after that, and here's what I think so far. Likes: 1)The scenery is awesome 2)The simmies don't look so bad in the game as they do in screen shots. 3)You get to follow them around town. You DO get to see them outside of the places they visit, so they can interact with townies. Dislikes: 1) The menus. You don't get relationship scores, just a green bar and a tiny icon indicating, accquaintance, friend, etc. It's kind of a pain working on a relationship, because you're not really sure when you've reached enough points for a successful flirt. 2) Navigating the screens. You can't just move the cursor to the end of your monitor and have the camera follow that direction. The camera has very limited range, unless I'm missing something. (I printed out the read me, just to make sure) It made building and placing furniture a real pain. 3) Everything is downloaded and uploaded via your game launcher. I'm guessing if you're using a crack, there'll be no uploading or downloading for you. Anyway, I'm playing Sunset Valley, hoping to meet up with the Goths. I haven't seen them yet, but I'll find them sooner or later! Lol! So much for getting my story posted on LJ! I changed the title of the post, since the only pics I seem to be putting up here are of my test family - The Newsomes.

They look pretty good Jilly. But I don't think I'll ever like the look of sims 3 sims as much as sims 2 sims. Once it's way cheap and I can run it with TS2 I'll get it as a sideline game. Kind of like how sims stories was a side line. At the moment sims 3 is $88 on special, reg price $99!
You can alter the camera, I read that someplace on BP.

I'll have to track that down. I almost forgot the most important thing I don't like - no story editor!

Jill, you have to go into your options to enable edge scrolling. It's disabled by default. I have read that on the sims 3 site and someone even posted that info here, I think. I've heard that a lot of people can't get the game to register with their pre-game usernames. Did you register while installing the game, or did you go to your page at the site and add the serial number? I'm thinking that if you enter your serial number on the site itself, it should work and let you keep your name. I know it's too late for you, but I'm asking about your method for future reference for when I get the game.

What's edge scrolling for? I tried to regsister it both ways, but I tried through the lancher first, so maybe that meant something? I couldn't even find a record of the original one I signed up for. I'd been to it since I signed up for it, so that didn't make sense.

...Wow...that's interesting
Ugh! My uncle got me TS3 and Uni...just when I didn't want it anymore *head-desk* dang it, I'm kicking myself for putting that on the list and I think he probably got the one for Mac anyway! Can't wait for him to get back so I can see for myself.
On the side that glistens like gold, I got Uni too. *pom poms & happy dance*

What's edge scrolling for? It's for this, silly woman! 2) Navigating the screens. You can't just move the cursor to the end of your monitor and have the camera follow that direction. You have to check a box somewhere in your options to enable it. Don't worry Pixx, unless you're talking about Uni being for Mac. Apparently, The Sims 3 disk has both the PC and Mac versions included.

OK, my first Sims 3 baby.... First, the parents, Brenda and Jeremy. Bump 1: Bump 2: Tips said for a good pregnancy, mom and dad should both read book about Expecting. If the pregnancy goes well, the child is born with one trait, and you get to pick the second. (if not, the game pics and the kids has a rotten disposistion) Dad reading his book: Bump 3 with a new message: "Your sim is about to give birth. To Ensure a safe delivery, make sure they are at home, or go to the hospital." Arriving at the Hospital. Mom and Dad go inside, but you don't. I'm assuming there was spinning and twirling, but I just don't know. And mere moments later, meet baby Joshua! He was born with the trait of Easily Impressed, and I got to choose another one. I picked "Good". And this stupid blankie stays on the kid all the time. This is the "play with baby" action. There is no more "talking to baby while someone else holds it" option. Also, and I think this may be because my lifespan option is set too high, but it's going to take 5 days to go from baby to toddler. YUCK! I didn't feel like playing thru 5 days to see Joshie grow up yet, because I wanted to go play in the cemetery. So I made a fella who looks like he might enjoy hanging out there... This is Eddie Collins meeting the ghost of Francis Fairclaugh: Since they both have the "hopeless romantic" trait, Eddie flirted with the old bag, which she liked. (Why couldn't I find a young, smexy ghost???) I sent him to the masoleum to explore the catecombs, where he found a rare, unidentified seed. (my first seed! I haven't planted it yet.) Also, while exploring in there, a message came up saying he has met a zombie bear. Apparently, the zombie bear scared him so much that he needs 6 hrs to get over it. This is what he looked like when he got out: Well, I met a ghost, but I want a younger one so I can hook poor Eddie up with her. Also, I want to see a ghost baby, so I got Eddie a job there. Hopefully, if he hangs around enough, he'll meet some of the other ghosts! I was sure I'd find a vamp in that masoleum, but no luck. (at least not yet!) I intend to keep looking!

If left to my own, I don't know if I'd have bought it, but since he surprised me by coming home with it, I've got to say, I'm having fun. Since I'm too cheap to buy the $14 stragety guide, it's all trial and error. The Sims 3 BBS isn't as helpful or user friendly as the sims 2 BBS. Usually someone's posted parts of the guide by now, but I wasn't able to find it.
Also, I finally found the Goth's house, so hopefully I'll be able to put some pics of them up soon!

I took some pics of the Goth house a few minutes ago. I also saw Mortimer as a child riding a bike on the street, after seeing Bella doing her homework on the sidewalk in front of the theater. Malcolm Landgraab was playing on the swings in Central Park as well...lol. I actually don't like that whole 'ghost baby' nonsense. I haven't visited the cemetery yet. My simself finally did meet an almost smexy cop at the park, though. He is engaged to someone, but since those ready-made sims that look decent are so few and far between, she isn't letting that stop her from pursuing a romance!

I was reading one of the new TS3 legacy's, and the ghost grandparents come and help out with the grand babies. I really would not want that...it seems creepy and wrong to have a ghost feeding a baby.
