So the teenage son is grown and I got him a job in the music industry, but how do I get him to move out? I can't see any option in the paper or on the computer. I have to put his guitar in the cardboard box, not his inventory don't I?

LOL! You use the phone, Jo! I got so used to doing it that way, that I forgot I couldn't use the phone when I tried to move someone out in TS2 today! And no. If he's moving out, he needs his guitar in his inventory if you want him to keep it. The 'box'.. the family inventory stays with the current family.

When you click on the phone and choose the 'move' option, a box will pop up that asks what you want to do with him. If you aren't planning on playing his household, you can check the 'kick out' option and it will automatically place him on a random lot.
I guess if you don't pick that option, he'll go into the sim bin or something.

There were no houses he could go to even though I had placed an empty cheap one. So I used 'kick out' and he lost everything in his inentory. I don't think much of the TS3 moving system at all!

Yeah, they really could do that better. When that happens, I just "motherlode" them in their new place & give them their stuff back.

Yeah, moving seems to be a bit stupid in TS3, but they stupidly designed it to only play one family, so I guess they didn't bother making it where they get money, etc to move into their own place. I, personally, think it's stupid how they took away the player's option to do so, but it is a different game and they tried something different this time around. Lots of folks are pretty unhappy about the changes. Stupid EAxis!

They really should have foreseen that players would want the option to continue playing sims they raised from babies as well as being able to just let them go their own merry way. If they really did 'lead interesting and dynamic lives' lol EA's words not mine! Then that would be good and not so much as a problem as them ending up basically in the gutter, poor and fat. I like all those kdis and don't want to see any of them ending up like that. There should be an option to show relitives and friends houses as I have the hardest time locating Lee's adult son on the town map. Maybe it's my bad memory as I have a hard time finding the school and other places too. So how do I motherlode? I tried opening the cheat box and instead the game went into some kind of pause mode. I paniced wondering what had happend and I had to hit Esc to get the game back to playing. Maybe I hit the wrong key or something. It is Ctrl, Shift, C isn't it? I do it automaticly on TS3 so I forget what the keys are.

;D Yes, Motherlode is the same as Sims2, no difference, before I was told, or read about it, I was still using the same cheats for 3!

No one answerd my question. I can't open the cheat box. Also I wanted to put a roof over a patio using collums and that doesn't work, as soon as I take away walls it takes away the roof?! And a third one, sorry I can't figure how to let someone take a bubble bath. I bought them bubbles at the shop.

;D To get your Sims to have a bubble bath you need to put the bubble bath bottle on the bath(same with the rubber ducky, they both fit, near the taps!)then when you click the bath, bubble bath should be an option! Building a roof on a pergola, you need to put tiles there so the roof stays when you take the walls down! ;D I thought I did answer you first Q? The cheat box opens the same way as Sims2 (Ctrl/Shift/C)

On the tub! Never thought of that! I didn't even know you could place items on the tub, why the heck don't they say so! I tried it in inventory and on the table. Tiles first, ok. Well I will try it again, to make sure I am doing it corectly. If I am and it's not working then I don't know what to do. Thanks! Edit 1: Dang you know I can't see for looking. I did have the cheat box open I just couldn't see it because it was night time! At this rate I'll need glasses to play sims. I'm use to it looking white like it does in Sims 2. It looked all dark on dark. Edit 2: Well I placed the tile and when I took the wall down the roof still went down with it. Very annoying. I don't want a flat tile roof, I want the roof, roof to extend over the patio area like it does in TS2.
