I am curious as to how you got into playing The Sims. In my case it all because of my daughter, Stephanie. She kept saying she wanted a game for Playstation 2 call The Sims and I was like, "What's that?" and she told me it was a game where you controlled people through their lives, yada, yada... Then I thought it sounded really stupid. I mean, what kind of name is the sims? lol Anyway, I broke down and got it for her. We were sitting in the living room watching her play for the first time and she got all bent out of shape when 'Mother' kept fussing at her and she got stuck and could not do anything at all! LOL She threw down the controller and quit, stalking off in a huff. Finally I picked up the controller and began a game of my own and... rest is history! After I played the console game for a few months, Harley suggested I try out the PC version. At first I was skeptical about not haveing a game controller and having to use the keyboard and mouse controls, but once I got into the pc version, the console version just seemed a bit crappy because of the limitations on adding furniture, etc to your houses. I hated that about the console game! And, of course, with the pc version you could have two-story houses, etc. Ah well, there's my basic story. What's yours?

My hubby bought me Sims1 as a Birthday present. We already had (for the pc, I only play pc games) settlers, civilization, Alphacentori(sp?) etc. The sims was a logical choice. My favorite was the holiday one and then number two came out so we bought it. At first I found the new screen really hard to adjust too, but now I would never go back. I still have all my sims1 cdroms. Maybe when dd gets a little older I will give them to her.

I was watching TV, a show about technology and videogames. And a guy was talking about the sims and saying how addictive it was. (remember what he said, something like the game is so addictive that you'll forget to take care of your own needs LOL) So I pleaded and my mom bought the game. Of course I became addicted and couldn't live without my sims. At last I could create my own stories in my head, play with my fantasies and all I bought every single expansions and when the sims 2 came out I was at the store the first day to buy it. and so on for every single expansions except for mansion and garden cuz I'm broke (maybe santa will bring it for me, after all I have been nice all year long ......... hehe) anyway to make a loong story short I love the sims since the beginning I played with the sims on gamecube but never liked it. I prefer the pc version of the game.

My son, now 19, asked for Sims 1 for Christmas. I loaded it up, and watched him play, and it wasn't long before I had my own hood. We had all the expansions for sims 1 - my fav being Makin' Magic. It was about the 3rd or 4th expansion that I found the website & realized I could download cc. I don't think I ever uploaded anything until Sims 2. We were having so much fun with Sims 1, that they were on OFB before we made the switch to Sims 2. I gave all my Sims 1 games to a friend of my daughter's, who's family told her they couldn't afford it. I now have all the Sims 2 packs, except Ikea (which I don't want) and M&G, which I want but am scared of because of Tina's warning! (Pretty sure DH got me that for Christmas, but will wait for patch before installing!) I don't think I can hold out as long for Sims 3 as I did for 2, but we'll see....

I used to play Sim City (the OG) when it ran on DOS in the 80's. My hubby (then boyfriend) bought the PC Sims 1 in 2001 or 2002, whenever it came out, and the rest is history........

Holley... I SO love to trade ages with you! My girls were so sweet and affectionate when they were two and four. They adored me. *sigh* Now they are nearly 20 and 21 and think of me as 'cheesy' most of the time. *sniff* Enjoy those babies while you can because someday the biggest thing you'll be doing for them (in their eyes) is embarrassing them... lol! You know, I'm really enjoying the stories how you all got started with The Sims. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hmmm, Jilly, sometimes you worry me! Actually I try NOT to embarrass my kids in front of their friends, but I most likely do it anyway without realize it. Hehehe...
