S3: More than 8 in a house?

I was bummimg around on the S3 Ex today, and I came across many households that have more than 8 sims. I clicked on a few to see if anyone explained how this was done, and this is the only thing I found by way of explanation...

Does anyone know how this is being done?

The only way, so far, I have read that you can have more than eight in a household is to have Awesomemod installed. I saw a hack at MTS that allows you to actually see them in the panel, because apparently you can't unless you have a mod to make it happen.

I don't know what WTH that one person means by "press spacebar to get extra person".

EDIT:

I now know what the moron with the space bar was talking about. I found a thread where someone was talking about having more than eight sims on a lot and they could NOT see all the sims in household at once in the control panel in order to choose them to control. Clicking the space bar, in that case, will make it so that the sims show up and you are able to scroll them in order to choose the one you want to control.

I have more than 8 in a household since the last patch, Pixx invited her boyfriend to join the household, & she is pregnant,so there is 8 Simselves & Jon (her pop star boyfriend!) & she is pregnant,it is a very interesting household because Jon is not faithful & is playing with ALL the other Simselves! Only Holly & Karima are not playing, as they are interested in someone else,he even has Sawyer interested!

I was going to ask if this was normal? or if it has happened to any one else?

No I do not have the NEW Awesome Mod! I have no hack for this either (not that I have heard of any besides Awesome Mod!)

Well that is wild, because I can't see EAxis giving us the ability to have more than eight sims on a lot, and from what I've read, the space bar thing only serves to show the sims who don't show in the panel. As a matter of fact, here's a thread I found on the subject:

Why would anybody want this since 8 is hard enough to manage? It would be nice to not have to juggle things around to pull it off. Being able to space-bar to the ninth sim isn't so bad, really, as a temporary fix. So, I do not believe that you can GET eight sims into the house just by pressing the spacebar. If I'm wrong, someone will have to give me step by step instructions and then I will give it a try. But, I'm guesing, Karima, that you put more than eight on that lot when you DID have Awesomemod. If that is the case, they would still be on the lot with Awesomemod removed because the game doesn't just 'kick the sims out' when the hack is not there.

Well then I guess I have a dilemma on my hands, I went into the game to take a shot of the house icon in town mode so you could see for yourself how many were in the DD's homeless Sims house, well I nearly fell of my seat as Holley's Simself had invited her guy to move in,(remember no 'Awesome Mod' as it is not compatible with WA or the patches!) I was waiting on my son to get home to show him, when he came home I could not find them even though my Sim was friends with most of them, they did not show up, so I went into Edit town to search for them, they had all moved, all ten of them & a very pregnant Pixx Simself! they were in one of the very big & very expensive houses, so those two guys must have been loaded! & both Simselves were now married to their men & I am not certain but I think Holley's Simself is also pregnant!

I was so shocked I forgot to get the print-screen shot, I will next Time I go in Sims 3(at the moment I am making a Castle in Sims 2!)

I ran into the "try for baby" option not coming up once my household hit 8, which is why I had to divide up my Goth family. It would sure be nice if EA let us do what we wanted with our own game. I wouldn't want that many sims in every house, but in cases like the Goths and the simselves, it would be nice to have that option. Thanks for checking this out for me, guys!

Karima, you seemed to have missed my WHOLE point. You showing me a picture of a house with more than eight sims is not going to convince me that you can do it without hacks, because you CAN'T!

The reason you have more than eight is BECAUSE you HAD Awesomemod in when they all moved in together or whatever. The game does NOT automatically kick people out just because the mod is no longer installed. It is weird how they all moved though..lol. TS3 is certainly not the same as TS2.

The REAL test would be to try to make another household with more than eight without the hack by JUST PRESSING the space bar. THAT doesn't even make sense! If you that, tell me exactly how you did it so I can do it too...lol

Yes, Jill, it would be nice if they'd let us do what we want with our own games. They gave us the tools to blow our hoods in TS2 by moving occupied lots from one hood to another and downloading occupied houses. Why not let us blow up our games by overloading our lots with sims?

Tina,I did not miss it! I Have NO AWESOME MOD in my game since installing WA & patches, Holley's Guy moved in after WA was installed! THAT IS THE TOTALLY PUZZLING BIT!


`PS~ And the most puzzling thing about Sims three, is them moving all over the place or moving in with your Sims, even though there is only one bed!WTF! You end up with three families in a one bedroom house???

LOL... I wouldn't know because I never intend to play more than one house in a hood. So, how many people are in the house now?

I edited my above post to add that you need to try to make a household with more than eight sims without awesomemod to see if it can be done and if you succeed, you need to tell us how you did it.

Maybe awesomemod wrote some weird code that stuck with that family even though it is removed. I'll bet that you cannot make a new household of more than eight without it installed though.

Now I'm curious to see if I can download one of those families that already have more than 8... (although I don't really like the ones I linked - I'm sure there's more out there!)

I don't know for sure, but you probably can install the lots with more than eight, but you wouldn't be able to add more by having babies, marriage, or just moving anyone else in. Of course, I don't know this for sure because of Karima's experience. But..Karima always has a weird game anyway.

LOL.... I haven't done either. My poor family I've been playing will be stuck in limbo with three toddlers forever and if Jo HAD to depend on me to make her a castle, she'd be homeless!
