Hey, I just thought I'd post a heads up about the update your game is trying to give you. When it happened to me, I did not hesitate in my decision to click 'cancel'. I was glad I did, because I immediately went to The Sims 3 website to read about it and saw, unsurprisingly, that some folks started having problems with their games after installing when they had none before. How about you? Have you installed the update without getting any new problems? The 'patch' doesn't fix too many issues, so I'm not going to bother with it until I know it isn't going to 'fix something that isn't broken'.

I installed it, and the only problem I'm having is not being able to see the roofs on my houses. I had that problem before I installed the update!

Well, lots of folks are having problems, but lots of others are not. It doesn't fix anything that bothers me, though, so I'm going to wait for the next patch which might.
