The Black Cat

You may not find me pleasant,
You may not like my style,
You may not like the way I look
for it may make you howl.
When I pass peoples path,
they feel their life's ruined for the day.
I mean to cause no trouble,
I'm good in every way.
Some people may look at me,
and scream with fright.
maybe that's because,
My coat's as black as night.
They put all this upon me
With their atrocious lies.
Their superstitious beliefs,
brings tears to my eyes.
Believing me a witches pet
They threw me to the fire.
I loath who ever made it up,
what sickening liar.

But I have great vision,
and I have great poise.
And if you were to own me,
I wouldn't make much noise.
My eyes are like the moon,
My teeth are pearly white.
Don't fear to come near,
I promise I won't bite.
I exterminate your pests
Sooth you when your sad,
Yet you may still kick me
when your really mad.
You may not think me smart,
as my enemy canine.
In fact he is dull witted,
and very asinine.
So I ask you to respect me,
to pat me on my head.
Or I'll leave a little present
Inside your comfy bed.

Kittie I really enjoyed this poem! I loved your creatively descriptive vocabulary and the persona of the black cat was very realistic. Great job!

Aww,it's true too.I was thinking that when people saw a black cat run acrossed the street near my school on Friday the thirteenth. Megan and I were the only ones who "dared" to go pet it. Turns out the cat's name was Serenity.She's really pretty too
