Guess what my daughter and husband have done now. DH took both kids to MacDonalds this afternoon so I could have a quiet nap. Nice yes. Well at bedtime we discovered Miss 8 did not have her dental plate. 4 hours after they had returned. She had taken it out to eat and left it on the tray... yes and dh didn't check the table before leaving. So while he's mad at her he's just as much to blame. He drove back down just now but the bin near where they were sitting has already been emptied and the 'empty headed' youngsters who work there didn't think "Oh whats this, maybe someone will miss this' and place it behind the counter, no no it's been cleared away and is probably in the large bin. A $600 dental plate! Someone is going to look tomorrow, they wouldn't let dh look in the large bin. Poor kid has been crying for the last hour about it. *sigh*

Oh no, Jo, that's terrible! It totally blows to lose something like that. I did that once too. I used to have a partial plate with one tooth in it to replace a tooth that had broken off and had to be pulled. We were in New York City for a week and I took it out to eat and wrapped it in a napkin. I had put in my purse, but when I got back to the hotel room, I took it out and put on the side table. The next morning, we went out to have breakfast and when we got back, the maid had picked it up and thrown it away! She thought it had been trash without bothering to notice that something was wrapped inside that was clearly NOT trash. That was a four hundred dollar plate and I never got it back. I'd only had the darned thing for about a month at that point. I'm happy to say now that I have a permanent bridge that never comes out to keep me from being snaggle-toothed...lol. But, I went for about eight years in that condition. I sure hope and wish you luck in getting it back! Hopefully it's not too late for someone to find it.

Well I hope the youngster who cleared the table gets large bin duty. *Drums fingers* But as I said to dh, he's the adult, he's the one that should have scaned the table before leaving. You can't trust kids, and Sarah has always been terrible about losing things. I really won't be at all surprised if she has the same condition as me, her memory is appalling. But dang I hope you said something, staff should not touch things outside of bins. Snaggled toothed lol. edit: Harley the plate is designed to change the shape of her mouth/jaw while it is still cartilage. By ten it changes to bone. And part of it deals with how her upper front teeth are placed, one which is poking out crooked, and yes those are adult teeth. if it's done now before turning to bone she can avoid braces.

Gosh, this was a long time ago, back in 2000. I can't remember if we said anything or not. I think so, but it was no use because it was a LARGE hotel and it could never have been found.

Lol thanks. I don't hold out a lot of hope, but you never know. If not..well I guess we will have to pay the full amount for a new one as I don't think the health plan covers lost items.

I would have noticed that mess earlier, but I had gone out shopping with the girls.

Wow Jo, that really sucks. I hope Steve found it! Or else, I'm guessing he's in the dog house?

That sucks. It also sucks that you're not feeling well. Take care of yourself and feel better soon.

Thanks. I know I should probably see my Dr... but I decided to just take a multi vit and an aspirin.
As to the plate. They threw away the mold. Sarah has to go in this afternoon and get another mold made poor kid. Still I hope this teaches her to be more careful with it. At least it's only $200 and not $600.
